What will be done in
the framework of this project?
Project implementation forms a new type of researches for Georgian regions. Implementation of the results of
these researches will provide country development
and increasing of its competitiveness.
The task to be solved within the frames of the presented project and the results of these tasks solutions are the following:
·
System formalization of region development problems, defining of sustainable development criteria;
·
Systematization of region sustainable development tasks and determination of the
purposes and factors characterizing region sustainable
development;
·
Elaboration of the region sustainable development model on the basis of cognitive modeling methodology;
·
Choosing of regulating mechanisms for region development on the
basis of cognitive modeling. Selection of
the control scenario which provide region development;
·
Systematization of Gori region sustainable development tasks and determination of the purposes and factors characterizing region sustainable development;
·
Choosing of regulating mechanisms for Gori region development on the basis of cognitive modeling. Selection of
the control scenario which provide region
development;
·
Determining of territories which need
special governmental
support and elaboration of appropriate criteria for assignment of this status.
After implementing of this project will be developed strategy for regions sustainable development by considering
the specifics of separate regions. By implementing
of this Project in practice, regional economics will be competitive. This will cause economical development for the whole country.
By using of the developed model, researchers working on the regional problems will be able to formulate the task of region sustainable development and
investigate effectiveness of decisions for region
development.
Elaborated methodology of research will be used for Gori region sustainable development. Using of this technique will be possible for any regions of Georgia.
Suggested methodology can be successfully
used for researches and analysis of large scale organizational systems.
The results obtained within the framework of
the project will be systematized and published as articles and preprint. These publications will be very helpful to the
researchers interested in region sustainable development problems.

What’s next?
1. Our project results can - and should -
play a key role in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the way we
manage and allocate our natural resources
in Georgia, while enriching and transforming Computer Science proper.
2. The possible industrial, commercial, economic and other benefits that we
may obtain during the project implementation:
Conservation and
Biodiversity (the existence of a wide variety of plant and animal
species in their natural environments, which is the aim of conservationists
concerned about the indiscriminate destruction of forests and other habitats),
e.g. wildlife corridors which link core biological areas, allowing animal, seed, and pollen
movement between areas; least
environmental corridors.
Balancing
socio-economic demands and the environment e.g. policies
for harvesting renewable resources.
Renewable Energy e.g. biofuel - a gaseous, liquid, or solid substance of biological origin that is
used as a fuel.
Computational Challenges in Constraint Reasoning and Optimization, conservation and Biodiversity, wildlife corridors, including
some NP-hard problems.
Formation
of computational thinking to solve the challenges of sustainable development of
the regions and also educate other sustainability researchers
(e.g. resource economists,
environmental scientists, and biologists) about the new methods and opportunities computing and information science as well as modeling
3. Rigorous
substantiation of the benefits of using mathematical modeling in sustainable
development problems does not cause difficulties.
In the 21st Century the world has so many challenging problems amongst are the global
warming, occurrence of ecological problems, outbreak of diseases,
security problem, food and energy crises and high raise in the price of crude
oil, the unemployment
problem and collapse of many financial giant institutions and the list
can go
on and on.
In order to
understand complex situations surrounding human being there is the need to
develop models. Models are mathematical structure for managing
real life
situations, to animate, visualize or interact with complex structures and processes.
It is necessary to suggest to policy makers how to improve
the quality of life of people and our environment, how to predict natural
disaster using mathematical models
and simulation techniques. A mathematical model is a most
favourable description of a complex system using mathematical concepts and
language. The mathematical
modeling can result in launching of Georgia onto the
path of sustainable development in this 21st century.
4. The patent application is expected over the years.
5. The
list of institutions and companies, which, as we know, are interested in our sustainability's
models: Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development
of Georgia, Ministry of
Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia - Protection of
Environment from Negative Impact, Indian multinational conglomerate
company Tata Group which collaborates with Georgia in the field of
communications and information technology, engineering, materials, services,
energy, consumer products
and chemicals, Ministry of Energy of Georgia which
should take into account environmental issues in the time of scheduled
extensive development of hydropower to
optimize your solutions.
6. Since
our project has limited commercial applicability, we intend to use our results within the bounds of Georgian
e-Government and to attract public funds for
further mathematical modeling of the sustainable
development.
7. Computational Sustainability is a direction of our future research - development of computational methods and mathematical models to alleviate sustainability
problems (e.g.
significant opportunity for more efficient use of natural resources): additional levels of complexity (stochasticity, uncertainty,
large-scale data
modeling); challenges in dynamic models and optimization;
balancing socio-economic demands and environment; highly stochastic environments.
