UNESCO Chair in Information Society

UNESCO Chair in Information Society was established in 2003 according to the agreement between UNESCO and Technical University of Georgia, signed at the Technical University of Georgia (Georgia).

Field of Activities: Information and Comunication Techologies.

Object: Development of scientific, training, infomation and documentation systems for integration in the field of Information and Comunication Technologies, which will be the mean of simplification of collaboration among Georgian and Caucasus region Universities and other worldwide institutions, where work internationally acknowledged scientists and pedagogues.

Head of Department: The member of Georgian Scientific Academy, Professor – Gocha Chogovadze

Human Resourses: The chair participates in study process of the Technical University of Georgia, but it doesn’t issues specialists. The constant staff of chair is: one member of Georgian Scientific Academy, two full professors, two scientists, three post-graduate students and an engineer-programmer. All the members of the staff work on a voluntary basis, they dedicate their idle time to activity at the chair. In order to fulfill the projects carrying out by the chair, in the case of necessity, are invited other specialists (as usual students, post-graduate students and the staff of Technical University of Georgia) for participation in the said projects.
