HEP Software Foundation Workshop

On 25th of January Nuclear Engineering Center of Georgian Technical University participated HEP Software Foundation Workshop which took place at the San Diego Supercomputing Center (SDSC) and the University of California at San Diego (UCSD).

Several presentations were done by representatives from University of Chicago, University of Notre Dame, University of Pittsburgh, Univ. of California San Diego and Georgian Technical University.

This HEP Software Foundation (HSF) workshop was focused on the Community White Paper (CWP), a Roadmap for HEP Software and Computing R&D for the 2020s.
 
The HSF workshop at SDSC/UCSD was the first workshop supporting the CWP process. There were conducted plenary sessions covering topics of general interest as well as parallel sessions for the many topical working groups in progress for the CWP.

Parallel sessions were held in such directions as Simulation, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Event Processing Frameworks, Visualization, Data Access and Management, etc.

GTU Nuclear Engineering Center took part in visualization session of the workshop, with the scope of visual representation of event data overlaid with detector geometry for the purpose of  HEP research and presented ATLAS Tracer, web-based software application visualization of Detector facilities and events, explaining the concepts of ATLAS Tracer and software behind it, its advantages and limitations.
