Academic Calendar of the Georgian Technical University for the 2025-2026 Academic Year

About the Academic Schedule of the First (Fall) Semester of the 2025-2026 Academic Year

1. The first (fall) semester of the 2025-2026 academic year at the Georgian Technical University will begin on October 20th, 2025.
2. The mid-term exam (if any) in the educational component will be held from December 8th to December 13th, 2025, inclusive, ongoing activities will be assessed in the weeks specified in the relevant syllabus, final exams will be held from February 9th to February 21st, 2026, inclusive, and additional exams – from February 23rd to February 28th, 2026, inclusive (see Appendix 1, Appendix 2, Appendix 3).
3. Submission of documentary material, as a rule, will be carried out as follows: for the educational component, submit from February 2nd, 2026, until the relevant final exam. For the stages of the research component (“Completion and defense of the master’s thesis”, “Discussion of the “Project-Prospectus” and “Colloquium”, “Preliminary defense of the dissertation,” and “Defense of the dissertation”), submit within the deadlines specified in the appendixes to this order (see Appendix 1, Appendix 2, Appendix 3).
4. In master’s and doctoral studies, the defense of master’s theses and dissertations, as well as the review of prospectuses or colloquiums (if any), will, as a rule, be carried out within the deadlines for the final and additional exams for educational components (see Appendix 2 and 3).
5. The preliminary defense of the dissertation is usually held from November 10th to November 29th, 2025 (see Appendix 3).
6. Practice, depending on its specifics, will be conducted in accordance with the program (syllabus) of the educational course.
7. Christmas holidays will begin on December 31st, 2025, and end on January 7th, 2026, and winter holidays will begin on March 1st, 2026, and end on March 15th.
8. The leading professor of the educational component (educational course, thematic seminar, practice, etc.) will be obliged to enter the results of the assessment of the current activity of students, the mid-term exam (if any), the final and/or additional exam (except for exams held at the examination center) in the electronic student assessment report (hereinafter referred to as the electronic report) posted on the university website no later than four working days (24 hours) following the deadline for the assessment/examination.
9. The University Examination and Electronic Learning Resources Center is obliged to enter the results of the mid-term exam, final, and/or additional exam conducted at the computer center into the electronic database no later than four working days (24 hours) following the deadline for the exam.
10. The supervisor of the master’s student/scientific supervisor of the doctoral student is obliged to enter the results of the evaluation of the master’s thesis defense/dissertation pre-defense/dissertation defense, “Project-prospectus” and “Colloquium” into the electronic record no later than four working days (24 hours) after the deadline for the relevant evaluation/defense.
11. At the end of the semester, no later than five working days after the deadline for the additional exam, the leading professor of the educational component, the supervisor of the master’s student, the scientific supervisor of the doctoral student must confirm the data on the printout (2 copies) of the electronic record by signing and submitting it to the academic department. The record registered in the department will be transferred to the dean’s office in accordance with the existing procedure.

12. The deans of the faculties are instructed to:
12.1. Within 4 weeks of the start of the semester, submit information to the Learning Process Management Service regarding the inclusion of learning materials in the electronic learning system (elearning.gtu.ge), as well as the placement of the consultation schedule in the university’s information spaces (leqtori.gtu.ge; elearning.gtu.ge, etc.);
12.2. At least two weeks before the start of the mid-term exams, ensure the compilation of the relevant exam schedule and its submission to the Academic Process Management Service and the Examination and Electronic Learning Resources Center for further publication;
12.3. Within 6 weeks from the start of the semester, submit information to the Academic Process Management Service on the results of monitoring the personal files of the students of the final semester (including the documentation specified as a prerequisite for enrollment), as well as on their academic and financial debts.
12.4. No later than 6 weeks from the start of the semester, ensure the completion of the academic (verification of the study results of the previous semester/semesters and signing of the study agreement) and administrative (signing of the financial agreement and/or payment of tuition fees) registration of students, as well as submission of relevant information to the Academic Process Management Service;
12.5. Ensure that unregistered students are informed and that relevant information is submitted to the Academic Process Management Service within 6 weeks of the start of the semester;
12.6. No later than 6 weeks from the beginning of the semester, submit draft orders on the admission of students with academic debt to additional (re) taking of study courses and research components, as well as information on the completion of the formation of relevant electronic notifications.
12.7. No later than 6 weeks from the beginning of the semester, submit faculty orders on the admission of master’s students to the component “Completion and defense of the master’s thesis” in the current semester to the Academic Process Management Service (see Appendix 4);
12.8. At least one month before the start of the final exams, submit faculty orders to the Academic Process Management Service regarding the composition of the commissions for evaluating thematic seminars of doctoral studies (if any) and the review of colloquiums of the scientific research component and their work schedule, as well as the schedule (place and time) for reviewing the prospectus of the scientific research component at the meeting of the academic department;
12.9. No later than 11 weeks after the start of the semester, submit to the Academic Process Management Service faculty orders on the admission of doctoral students to the stage of “Completion and Defense of the Dissertation” in the current semester, indicating the absence of academic and financial debt (see Appendix 5);
12.10. No later than two weeks before the start of the defense of master’s theses, submit draft orders on approving the composition of examination committees and appointing the defense of theses;
12.11. No later than two weeks before the defense of the dissertation, submit draft orders on appointing the defense of theses, prepared based on the decisions of the university dissertation councils;
12.12. Two weeks before the start of the final exams, submit a final exam schedule (indicating days, hours, and auditoriums) to the Academic Process Management Service for approval.
12.13. Ensure the complete audio/video recording of the defense of master’s theses, the evaluation of the thematic seminar of doctoral students (if any), the discussion of doctoral students’ colloquiums, the preliminary defense of the dissertation, and the defense of the dissertation, and store the recording on a laser disk (CD or DVD) as an appendix to the relevant protocol;
12.14. Ensure the monitoring of electronic report filing during the semester, in collaboration with academic departments.
12.15. Submit service cards to the Academic Process Management Service within four weeks after the end of the semester on completion of registration of student evaluation reports, as well as student rating lists.
12.16. Submit draft orders on transferring students to the next year of study (if necessary) within one month after the end of the semester;
12.17. Submit draft orders on suspending the status of students who have academic debts after the expiration of the planned period of study and have not applied to the Rector for the extension of their status for an additional semester(s) in accordance with the established procedure within one month after the end of the term for restoring student status.

13. The Examination and Electronic Learning Resources Center will be instructed to:
13.1. Provide the examination schedule to be held at the Examination Center to the departments of educational processes management of the faculties 3 weeks before the start of the midterm and final exams;
13.2. Ensure the placement of examination schedules in the university information spaces (elearning.gtu.ge, testing.gtu.ge, vici.gtu.ge) one week before the start of the exams.
14. Control over the implementation of the order will be assigned to Vice-Rector T. Tsereteli.
15. The order will be posted on the university website.
16. The order may be appealed within 1 month from the date of publication to the Administrative Cases Board of the Tbilisi City Court, located at: 64 Davit Agmashenebeli Alley, Tbilisi.
