Academic Calendar for the 2024-2025 Academic Year of Georgian Technical University
- Administrative and Academic Registration for First-Year Students:
- Bachelor's Degree Program – September 4-12, 2024;
- Educational Program for Preparation in the Georgian Language – September 4-12, 2024.
- The first (fall) semester of the 2024-2025 academic year at Georgian Technical University will begin on September 16, 2024.
- First (Fall) Semester:
- Academic Activities:
- For students in educational programs for preparation in the Georgian language, first-to-fourth-year Bachelor's students, second-year Master's students, second and third-year Doctoral students, as well as all students in additional semesters, academic activities will begin on September 16, 2024 (see Annex 1, Annex 4).
- For first-semester Master's and Doctoral students, academic activities will begin on September 23, 2024 (see Annex 1, Annex 4).
- Midterm Exams (if applicable) in academic components will take place from November 11 to November 16, 2024, and ongoing activities will be assessed during the weeks specified in the relevant syllabi.
- Final Exams will be held from January 20 to February 1, 2025 (see Annex 1, Annex 4).
- Additional Exams will take place from February 3 to February 8, 2025 (see Annex 1, Annex 4).
- The Christmas Break will start on January 1, 2025, and end on January 7;
- The Winter Break will begin on February 9, 2025, and end on February 23, 2025.
- The submission of documentary materials, as a rule, should occur:
- For academic components – from January 13, 2025, until the respective final exams.
- For the stages of "Completion and Defense of the Master's Thesis," "Project-Prospectus," and "Colloquiums" – from January 13 to January 18, 2025.
- For the stage of "Pre-Defense of the Dissertation" – from September 16 to October 19, 2024.
- For the stage of "Defense of the Dissertation" – from November 11 to November 30, 2024 (see Annex 1, Annex 4).
- The defense of Master's theses and dissertations, as well as the discussion of prospectuses/colloquiums (if applicable), should generally take place during the period designated for final and additional exams in academic components (see Annex 2, Annex 3).
- The Pre-Defense of the Dissertation is generally held from October 21 to November 9, 2024 (see Annex 3).
- Practical Training, depending on its specific nature, should be conducted in accordance with the program of the academic course (syllabus).

- Second (Spring) Semester
- The second (Spring) semester of the 2024-2025 academic year at Georgian Technical University will begin on February 24, 2025.
- Midterm exam (if applicable) in the academic component will be held from April 28 to May 3, 2025;
* Ongoing activities will be assessed in the weeks specified in the relevant syllabus,
* Final exams will be held from June 23 to July 5, 2025,
* Additional exams will be held from July 7 to July 12, 2025 (see Annex 1, Annex 2, Annex 3).
- Summer vacation will begin on July 13, 2025.
- Submission of documentary materials should generally take place:
* For the academic component – from June 16, 2025, until the respective final exam,
* For the stages of "Completion and Defense of Master's Thesis," "Project-Prospectus," and "Colloquiums" – from June 16 to June 21, 2025,
* For the stage of "Preliminary Defense of the Dissertation" – from February 24 to March 29, 2025,
* For the stage of "Dissertation Defense" – from April 22 to May 10, 2025 (see Annex 1, Annex 2, Annex 3).
- The defense of master's theses and dissertations, as well as the review of prospectuses/colloquiums (if applicable) for master's and doctoral programs, should generally take place within the periods allocated for final and additional exams (see Annex 2 and Annex 3).
- The preliminary defense of the dissertation should generally be held from March 31 to April 19, 2025 (see Annex 3).
- Internships, depending on their specifics, should be conducted in accordance with the study course program (syllabus).
- The lead professor of an academic component (course, thematic seminar, internship, etc.) is required to enter the students' ongoing activity assessments, midterm exam (if applicable), final and/or additional exam results (except for exams conducted at the examination center) in the electronic gradebook available on the university website no later than four working days (by 24:00) after the last date of assessment/exam.
- The University's Examination and Electronic Learning Resources Center is obliged to enter the results of the midterm exam held at the computer center, as well as the final and/or additional exams, into the electronic record no later than four working days (by 24:00) after the last exam date.
- The master's supervisor/doctoral scientific advisor is obliged to enter the evaluation results of the master's thesis defense, preliminary dissertation defense, dissertation defense, "Project-Prospectus," and "Colloquium" into the electronic record no later than four working days (by 24:00) after the respective evaluation/defense date.
- At the end of the semester, no later than five working days after the last additional exam date, the lead professor of the academic component, the master's supervisor, and the doctoral scientific advisor must confirm the data with their signature on the printed electronic record (two copies) and submit it to the academic department. The registered record in the department will be transferred to the dean's office according to the existing regulations.
