Professors and students of the Faculty of Sustainable Mountain Development of the Georgian Technical University conducted a field expedition in the mountainous region of Kvemo Kartli.
Students of the bachelor’s education program of Mountain Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality Management, as part of field practice, visited the Dmanisi Museum-Reserve of the National Museum of Georgia and one of the oldest, Bolnisi Sioni’s church dated in the 5th century.
According to Professor Noe Khozrevanidze, the head of the GTU Faculty of Sustainable Mountain Development, a seminar was held for the students, which allowed the youth to get comprehensive information about the expedition area, and then directly discuss the historical and archaeological sites.
“The Faculty of Sustainable Mountain Development, with the effective support of the rector, academician David Gurgenidze, and the university administration, regularly organizes field expeditions for students of all educational programs of the faculty.
Through the field practice, which this time was meant for the bachelor of Mountain Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality Management, young people will acquire work experience and necessary practical skills that will help them to identify and develop sustainable mountain tourism destinations, assess the current situation, develop current projects and prepare presentations. It is important that the seminar held as part of the expedition allowed the students to get comprehensive information about the area and discuss with their mentors the museum-reserve and historical-archaeological sites of the Kvemo Kartli mountainous region,” Noe Khozrevanidze noted.
