Students from the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering at Georgian Technical University (GTU) are enrolled in a three-module training course titled "Car Dealer Training," developed in partnership with GTU and Lion Trans.
The intensive training course, which commenced on May 21 and will conclude in two months, is a collaborative effort between GTU and Lion Trans. This initiative aims to provide additional learning opportunities for students from the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, facilitated through a partnership reinforced by a memorandum of cooperation.
According to the Dean of the Faculty, the training course introduces students to the theoretical underpinnings of the car dealership industry. Drawing on the practical expertise of Lion Trans, the course incorporates hands-on components to deliver comprehensive insights into the fundamental business principles of car dealerships.
The Dean, Associate Professor Boris Gitolendia highlights that the course enables students to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application through consultations with industry practitioners. The training course, jointly developed by the faculty and specialists from Lion Trans, employs modern teaching methods and is structured into three theoretical modules: "General Vehicle Equipment," "Service Strategy and Efficiency," and a practical module conducted at Lion Trans headquarters.
Georgian Technical University aims to equip students with foundational knowledge of dealership operations, preparing them to meet industry standards, understand dealership structure, principles of operation, and the significance of planning and oversight. The course also focuses on developing decision-making skills essential for professionals in the field.
Critical to the course's success is the practical training component held at Lion Trans headquarters, where students gain hands-on experience, including utilizing the auction platform supported by IAA, one of the largest American auto auctions.
The Dean, emphasizes that the training course successfully achieves its objectives in preparing young professionals for careers in the car dealership industry, fostering confidence that alumni will find suitable employment opportunities.
The General Director of Lion Trans underscores the course's innovative approach in meeting dealership business needs and applying effective management principles in practical settings.
General Director Levan Sukhitashvili notes that the partnership between GTU and Lion Trans not only enhances educational opportunities for students at the country's largest engineering-technological school but also underscores the high social responsibility of a leading industry player.
Upon completion of the three-module "Car Dealership Training" course, participants receive certificates, with outstanding performers potentially securing employment opportunities at Lion Trans.
It should be noted that enrollment is limited in the first stage, with only students of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering at GTU taking the training course. In the future, it is planned to expand the course and offer it to other interested parties.
