The cycle of events dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Yuza Kublashvili Men’s Folk Capella, laureate of national and international competitions and festivals, has started at the Georgian Technical University. The concert tour will continue until the end of the year.

“Soon we will be 60 years old. It has been a journey of love and hard work, and I am blessed to have been directing the Men’s Capella at GTU since 1981.
Today, the fifteenth generation of a Cappella is presented to the audience, many of whom are standing on stage for the first time, and the emotion that comes from the audience means a lot to them.
43 years together with the Georgian Technical University and the Men’s Capella - we have written the history! We continue the traditions that Yuza Kublashvili laid the foundation for.
Many outstanding musicians started their creative journey in the Capella of the Georgian Technical University; like Zurab Sotkilava and Paata Burchuladze; State Opera soloists Temur Gugushvili, Gia (Djardji) Asatiani; Berlin Opera soloist Mikheil Bakhtadze; Mikheil Silagadze, laureate of tenor competition; “Blue Trio” - by David Abesadze, Tamaz Seferteladze, Malkhaz Tavartkiladze; “Trio Tbilisi” - by Zaza Mamaladze, Ramaz Guniava, Nugzar Apkhaidze; Trio “Simmi” - Zaza Vekhvadz, Rezo Gelashvili, Zurab Tskitishvili; Ensemble “Passengers” - Gigi Dedalamazishvili, Lasha Dokhnadz, Dato Gogelia, Bezhan Amiranashvili, Guga Kublashvili; David Gogelia, the founder and Kapellmeister of the ensemble “Shavnabada”; “Georgian Voices” members – brothers Bakuradze; Zurab Datikashvili, singer of “Alilo” ensemble; Paata Meladze, a member of the “Bonus” ensemble. It is difficult to find a folk ensemble in Georgia, whose members didn’t sing in the Men’s Capella - ensembles: “Erisioni”, “Rustavi”, folk groups and ensembles from different regions of Georgia, many of who were members of the Capella during my leadership.
I have 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and many children - all sons! Here, I am so rich, and our Capella has such great traditions. It is impossible not to mention the support of the Academician David Gurgenidze, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University. Thanks to him for protecting and continuing the traditions laid 59 years ago.
And for these and other merits, we dedicate the Racha folk song “Racha Yaono” to him. When we started planning the first concert as part of the anniversary events, from the first minute David Gurgenidze, along with the Chairman of the Supervisory Board Zurab Gudavadze and Chancellor Karlo Kopaliani, the head of the Culture Department Badri Lebanidze and his team stood by us. I thank them for everything, love and support”, said Tsitsino Falavandishvili.
The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze congratulates Yuza Kublashvili Men’s People's Capella on the successful start of the first concert in the format of the jubilee year.
“The Georgian Technical University has the richest artistic traditions. Along with great scientists, luminaries of art worked inside these walls. To enumerate them would take me too far, and I fear I may miss some. From my student days until now, I have witnessed how generations have changed in this extraordinary creative collective. They always successfully represented our university in Georgia and abroad. The tradition continues – and today, 59 years passed before our eyes like one day. Thanks to the artistic director and conductor of the Capella, students - for popularizing Georgian folklore. I wish them success”, noted David Gurgenidze.
At the end of the concert, the popular group “Passengers” performed a new song – “Georgia”.
