Medea Burjanadze, the Professor of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems Engineering of the Georgian Technical University, and the head of the Scientific Research Institute of GTU “Talga” participated in the International Scientific Event - The 6th Euro-Mediterranean Conference for Environmental Integration - EMCEI-24).
At the international multidisciplinary conference, which was held in Marrakesh, Kadi Ayadi University (Morocco), the scientific report of the researcher of the Georgian Technical University – “Bover-G: mycopesticides for the control of agricultural and forest harmful insects” - by the scientific committee was named the winner of the environmental management biotechnology section.
As GTU Professor Medea Burjanadze noted, the purpose of EMCEI 2024 is to join the latest research conducted in the environmental direction and to contribute, on the one hand, to the implementation of global environmental goals, and on the other hand, to make a significant contribution to the creation of a sustainable environment.
“In 18 sections of EMCEI 2024, debates and panel discussions were held on increasing environmental degradation, critical issues of ecological and natural resource protection, agricultural issues, environmental awareness, crisis assessment, and management, improvement of the existing situation, as well as integration opportunities in the latest ecological approaches and scientific research.
About 400 scientists from more than 70 countries participated in the conference sections. The scientific report submitted by me to the Environmental Management Biotechnology section is about the first Georgian mycopesticides, which were manufactured and registered in Georgia, under the trademark - Bover-G.
To create mycopesticides, we conducted research in Germany, the USA, and the GTU. It is gratifying that the report was highly rated by the Scientific Committee of EMCEI 2024 and recognized as the section winner.
This is the success of the Georgian Technical University. I would like to thank the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, and his colleagues for their great support in scientific research. I would also like to mention that the report, along with other researches presented at EMCEI 2024, will be published in “Springer” scientific publications with an impact factor”, said Medea Burjanadze.
According to the GTU scientist, within the framework of EMCEI 2024, meetings were held at the initiative of the conference organizers, where they discussed the prospects of future cooperation with the Georgian Technical University in the scientific direction, and also discussed the possibility of holding the conference in Georgia, in particular at the GTU.
