Doctoral students of the Engineering Physics educational program of the Faculty of Informatics and Management Systems of the Georgian Technical University took part in the first national conference of physics teachers of Georgia.
The conference was organized by the Association of Physics Teachers of Georgia. Along with various higher educational institutions and organizations, one of the partners and supporters of the event was the GTU.
The Association of Physics Teachers of Georgia would like to thank the partner organizations, with the support of which an important event was held for physics teachers.
The work of the conference was held in two sessions, and physics teachers from different public and private schools of Georgia took part in it. They discussed such topical topics: project-based learning and club work - the best way to increase motivation; sharing the work experience of the school’s STEAM and ECO clubs; teaching physics using the Harkness method; The most effective teaching method - freedom of thought; Balance of bodies and simple mechanisms in the architecture and sculptures of old Tbilisi; Mobile applications and devices, etc. Within the framework of the conference, physics teachers made presentations and conducted workshops. At the end of the event, the participants were given certificates, and the best speakers were awarded.
According to the Deputy Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Lominadze, in the field of science, the university needs to have traditional scientific conferences with the active involvement of school teachers.
“It should be noted that the close cooperation with the Association of Physics Teachers of Georgia is the initiative of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, taking into account the fact that it is a priority for the university to support the teaching of STEM subjects among schoolchildren using innovative approaches. To strengthen this trend, our university has been running free courses for applicants in STEM subjects, including physics, for the fourth year consequently. We believe that the development of natural sciences, especially physics, and the sharing of the latest international approaches in this direction, the latest research, should be done first of all in the segment that school teachers consider. It is essential because a good teacher has a direct and impressive impact on students. On behalf of the Georgian Technical University, we congratulate the Association of Physics Teachers of Georgia on holding the first national conference and wish success to them and all the teachers participating in the event. We would wish such events loaded with content and plans to have a traditional character, and in turn, our university will always support the scientific activities”, noted Tamar Lominadze.
