Within the framework of the 88th open international scientific conference of students at the Georgian Technical University, the commission consisting of scientists and researchers identified the winning students of the Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development.
Under the auspices of the mentioned conference, one section of the faculty – “Global challenges of sustainable mountain development” is working.
Based on the points awarded by the commission members, the winners were identified: 1st place - Ana Dolidze, 2nd place - Mariam Bakradze, 3rd place - Lizi Bagashvili.
Also, the conference report of student Ana Shaorshadze, which she presented at the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy in the section “Environmental Engineering”, was successful and took first place.
For information, the Faculty of Mountain Sustainable Development was established in the university space on December 11, 2021, on International Mountain Day.
To overcome the poverty of the population of the mountainous regions of Georgia (the Caucasus) and to contribute to the creation of a sustainable socio-economic-ecological environment in the mountains, to integrate them into a broad profile, international standard, a single European mining educational space, by the requirements of the Bologna process and by the UN sustainable development strategy, students are offered four undergraduate education programs, which are fully funded by the state; they are sustainable development of the mountain village environment (qualification - Bachelor of Environmental Science); Sustainable Mountain Tourism and Hospitality Management (qualification-Bachelor of Tourism); Management of organic farming systems in mountainous regions (qualification-Bachelor of Management); Natural Hazards Sustainable Environment and Protection (qualification-Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering).
The educational programs are new and have no analogs in other Georgian universities or the neighboring countries.
The new faculty cooperates with successful European universities, the Italian International University of Mountains and the Scottish University of Highlands and the Islands, for the master’s and doctoral educational programs formation and development entirely identical to the European standard.
