The Rector of the Georgian Technical University thanked the President of the Fazisi Academy and the participants of the XXVI Scientific Session of the Academy. As Academician David Gurgenidze noted, in the 70s of the last century, nationally minded Georgian patriots restored the historical Fazisi Academy. On June 29th, 1974, the document on the restoration of the Academy was signed by prominent Georgian scientists and public figures: President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences Ilia Vekua, Minister of Culture of Georgia Otar Taktakishvili, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Georgian Society “Knowledge” Damiane Gogokhia, and Chairman of the Historical Society of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences Giorgi Chitaia. Academician Giorgi Chitaia was the first president of the Academy, and at different times, the presidents of the Fazisi Academy were Professor Ilia Tabagua, Academician Tsotne Mirtskhulava, and Professor Nugzar Nadaraia. The members of the founding assembly of the Fazisi Academy were scientists and public figures highly respected and authoritative by Georgian society: Simon Kaukhchishvili, Shalva Amiranashvili, Andria Apakidze, Pavle Ingorokva, Egnate Pipia, Theophane Davitaia, Shota Dzidziguri, Konstantine Baramidze, Leonide Gorgiladze, Mikheil Daraselia, Zurab Anchabadze, Mariam Lortkipanidze, and Levan Pruidze. According to David Gurgenidze, nowadays, the Fazisi Academy reminds us of an important period in Georgian history, deep roots of intellectual and spiritual heritage, from which renowned modern scholars continue the path blazed by great scholars and research the history of Colchis.
The Academy of Sciences plays a crucial role in Georgian science advancement. It not only preserves our cultural identity but also lays the groundwork for new ideas and innovations. Generations of scientists emerging from this academy remind us of the importance of collaboration with society. With the utmost respect, I want to emphasize that the certificate presented to me by the President of the Academy is not solely my achievement; it reflects the tireless efforts of all of us—those who work daily towards our shared goal of building an educated, progressive, and science-based future for Georgia. I would like to express my gratitude once again and wish you all continued success,” said David Gurgenidze in his speech.
During the XXVI Scientific Session of the Fazisi Academy, Gela Kipiani, a professor in the Department of Machinery at the GTU Faculty of Construction, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and member of the Fazisi Academy, presented a report titled “Methods of Using Metal Sheet-piling Slats in Landslide-Prone Zones.”
