The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, based on the Academic Council decision, awarded the GTU Gold Medal to two professors from the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering and one professor from the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning, and Design for their outstanding service to the University.
At the Academic Council meeting, the Rector awarded the Gold Medal to architect Professor Jumber Malaghuridze, who is still actively engaged in design, scientific, and pedagogical work. Jumber Malaghuridze is the author of 219 works, including 27 completed, and 11 unimplemented projects, 10 educational and methodological programs and 6 textbooks, 47 scientific articles and 4 monographs, 10 public and political articles, and 106 artistic works (graphics, paintings, sculptures).
The Rector also presented a gold medal to Jumber Iosebidze, a full member of Georgian and international academies, laureate of the Georgian State Prize in science and technology, professor of the Georgian Technical University, head of the “Automobile Transport” Department, author of more than 250 works, and Ramil Zukakishvili, professor of the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, head of the Aviation Engineering Program, author of many works, through whose efforts it became possible to restore the historical aviation engineering program at GTU after a long break.
As the Rector noted at the Academic Council meeting, Jumber Malaghuridze, Jumber Iosebidze, and Ramil Zukakishvili have made a great contribution to the successful activities and high-standard teaching and learning process of the Georgian Technical University for many years, as a result of which the Academic Council decided to award them with the highest award of the GTU - the Gold Medal.
“The Georgian Technical University Gold Medal is a recognition of a scientist’s work, it is a symbol of gratitude and appreciation for the merit that is based not only on professional knowledge but also on self-sacrifice, dedication, and creative power. Today, this worthy award, by decision of the Academic Council we presented to outstanding scientists and educators who have earned universal recognition for their works, scientific contributions, and activities dedicated to the upbringing of future generations. It is crucial that society appreciates eminent scientists. Those who daily build the temple of knowledge, create innovative ideas, and share this wealth with students. Such people are the intellectual pillar not only of our university but also of the entire country. I heartily congratulate our scientists on this worthy award. I wish them health, creative energy, and new achievements,” said David Gurgenidze in his speech.
Tamaz Urtmelidze, an associate professor of the Faculty of Law and International Relations, who was elected as a member of the Academic Council with high legitimacy, was approved as a member of the Academic Council.
