Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, and Dean of the GTU Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Professor Liana Targamadze, in preparation for the start of the educational process, got acquainted with the work process at the Tkibuli Mining and Technology Institute of the Faculty of Mining and Geology of GTU.
Tamar Tsereteli met with the head of the Tkibuli Mining and Technology Institute, Grigol Tsnobiladze, employees, and teachers. The purpose of the meeting was to monitor the ongoing work at the institute and plan initiatives focused on future development. The Vice-Rector also got acquainted with the educational, technical, and infrastructural processes at the institute.
According to Professor Tamar Tsereteli, during the meeting with the administration and teachers of the Mining and Technological Institute, special attention was paid to the state of mining and technological laboratories, the renewal of educational resources, and the possibility of improving practical experience for students. According to her, it is important for the university to develop regional educational units and attract more resources to them. In this context, the Tkibuli Mining and Technological Institute is considered one of the priority facilities.
“Today, the role of regional training centers in the training of engineering and technological specialists is particularly important. Tkibuli Mining and Technological Institute is one of the pillars of the field, which provides the local population with the opportunity to receive a highly qualified education within the region. Our goal is to create an educational environment meeting the needs of both the local and national economy by strengthening professional and academic programs. We believe that special attention should be paid to strengthening the practical component, updating laboratory infrastructure, and developing close ties with industry. This will be the basis on which competitive personnel will be created for both the domestic market and the international space,” says Tamar Tsereteli.
According to Professor Liana Targamadze, Dean of the GTU Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, the integrated development of professional and academic components, as one of the university’s priority tasks, is especially important for those faculties whose subject areas are directly related to the industrial sector.
“The development and integration of professional education into the technical higher education system is of strategic importance. In this regard, Tkibuli Mining and Technological Institute has significant potential both in terms of training personnel tailored to the needs of the local industry and in terms of introducing innovative educational practices. It is a priority for us that students have access to modern technologies, deepen their specialized knowledge, and, most importantly, master practical skills in demand in the industry. The action plan of the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, is built on these directions. Accordingly, the future development strategy of the Georgian Technical University is the harmonious cooperation of the university’s faculties and institutes, which will contribute to the formation of the educational space into a unified and powerful platform. To achieve this goal, we are ready to share our experience and resources with the Tkibuli Institute and promote its professional advancement,” announces Liana Targamadze.
