For the First Time in Georgia, GTU Will Host the 55th International Conference of the European Organization EYE
For the first time in Georgia, the Georgian Technical University will host the 55th International Conference (Assembly) of one of the prestigious European organizations Young Engineers of Europe” (EYE) - on September 18-21 of this year.

The EYE Executive Committee made this decision, based on a vote, at the 54th International Conference held under the organization’s auspices in Malta at the end of April and announced it at the Assembly's closing ceremony.

In the organization “Young Engineers of Europe” (EYE) - Georgia has been represented since 2024 by the “Georgian Young Engineers Committee” (GYEC), an organization of young specialists founded by the Georgian Society of Civil Engineers (GSCE), and its work is widely supported by the Georgian Technical University and GSCE.

It is noteworthy that the delegation of the “Georgian Young Engineers Committee”, represented by the President of the organization, Giorgi Molodini, a graduate of the San Diego State University-Georgia (SDSU-G) and GTU Construction Educational Program, and Secretary General, a bachelor of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of GTU, Anna Gogaladze, with the support of the Georgian Technical University and GSCE, participated in the EYE International Conference for the first time.

It is noteworthy that the Malta conference also held elections for the new leadership of the “Young Engineers of Europe”, within the framework of which Giorgi Molodini was nominated as one of the vice presidents of EYE.

As the “Young Engineers Committee” president notes, participation in the international conference held under the auspices of EYE will, first of all, support Georgia’s European integration process, strengthen the opportunities for Georgian youth to position themselves in the international space, and open up new connections for them with leading European universities, engineering organizations, and professionals working in various fields of engineering.

According to Giorgi Molodini, the delegation of the “Young Engineers Committee” at the Malta Assembly successfully demonstrated the important mission, goals, and activities carried out by, on the one hand, the Georgian Society of Civil Engineers (GSCE), which is an official member of the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE) and the World Council of Civil Engineers (WCCE), and on the other hand, the flagship higher education institution of engineering and technology in Georgia and the South Caucasus region - the Georgian Technical University.

As Giorgi Molodini noted, the Georgian delegation, with its speeches, active involvement in the processes, and awareness of engineering trends, gained the interest and support of the vast majority of EYE members.

“The international conference held under the auspices of EYE turned out to be interesting for our delegation in many ways - with new connections, new opportunities, even the fact that we were able to successfully present our country, the engineering directions developed in Georgia; we were able to fully convey the goals of GSCE and the main mission of the Georgian Technical University, which involves training engineering personnel in line with international standards for our country. The interest from EYE members and delegates was great and made us very happy. We think that this factor was decisive for the Executive Committee of the “Young Engineers of Europe”, based on a vote, to hold the next conference in our country, in particular at the Georgian Technical University. For the first time in Georgia, the university will host the EYE Assembly this year, from September 18 to 21. About 100 young delegates from more than 20 European countries will participate in it. It is also noteworthy that the Maltese Assembly elected a new leadership of EYE for a one-year term - a president and five vice presidents, and it was a complete surprise to me when they nominated me as vice president for finance,” said Giorgi Molodini.

The decision to hold the next international conference under the auspices of the “Young Engineers of Europe” at the Georgian Technical University is echoed by the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, who assesses it as an important event.

“It is a joy and, at the same time, a great honor that the 55th International Conference of the “Young Engineers of Europe” will be held for the first time in Georgia, particularly at our university. This is an important event not only for the Georgian Technical University but also for our country. The decision of EYE is a clear confirmation of the international recognition that Georgian engineering education, science, and training of young specialists include. The priority of the Georgian Technical University along with receiving education of international standards, is to create global connections, experience, and development opportunities for young people. Hosting the EYE Assembly will be a logical continuation of this mission.

We are confident that this international conference will become a platform that will unite young engineers from European countries and Georgia. It will allow our students and young specialists to better demonstrate their knowledge and skills and familiarize themselves with modern engineering trends. I believe that this initiative will significantly contribute to the European integration of our country and, at the same time, will raise the quality of engineering education.

I want to congratulate our university’s partner – the Georgian Society of Civil Engineers, and its youth organization – the “Young Engineers Committee of Georgia” on this significant success. They were able to represent our country, their organization, and the Georgian Technical University with dignity in the international arena. I also congratulate the President of the Committee, young engineer Giorgi Molodini, on being elected as the Vice-President of EYE. We hope that the Committee will expand its activities, establish new partnerships with both Georgian universities and professional organizations, as well as with European higher schools and engineering circles, and their future success will become a powerful prerequisite for the formation of a strong, modern, and open engineering generation in Georgia,” said David Gurgenidze.

For your information, Young Engineers of Europe (EYE) is a non-governmental organization with over 500,000 members from over 20 European countries. The organization, which is constantly expanding, aims to establish a presence in all countries that are members of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
