“Modern Georgian TV journalism - challenges, problems and ways to overcome them” - the famous journalist Tamar Urushadze gave a public lecture on these issues to students of the GTU Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies, and Social Sciences. She was with the students at the invitation of the Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies and Social Sciences and the “Christian Culture Research Laboratory”.
The guest shared her experience with future journalists, how she went from an ordinary journalist to a program host, and how she acquired professional skills. She gave the students valuable advice on how important objectivity is in the journalistic profession and how much caution is needed when covering sensitive topics.
The journalist herself considers polarized media a special problem, although she noted that a journalist’s honesty is a guarantee that one can maintain objectivity and a high degree of freedom in any media environment. She also spoke about the general problems and challenges of television media and, through interaction with students, revealed that it is gradually dying because it is losing its young audience.
Tamar Urushadze answered numerous questions from the students. The public lecture ended with a quiz on journalism, where outstanding students were awarded commemorative diplomas.
The students awarded the journalist with applause and expressed their desire to meet with her again.
