The winner of the “Leonardo da Vinci” grand prize and owner of 10,000 GEL in the competition of inventors and researchers was one of the teams of students created based on the Virtual Modeling and Construction Center of the Engineering Physics Department of the Georgian Technical University, which includes Giorgi Gobadze, Aleksandre Djelia, Nika Abuladze, Martha Todua, Elisabeth Gegeshidze, with the project “Eco-friendly, smart fish Farm”, and the 1st place and 5000 GEL was won by the project of the second team of the same center “Unmanned boat cleaning oil from water”, authored by Zviad Fruidze, Luka Forchkhidze, Elene Kachibaya, Luka Tsotsoria, and Ana Saldadze.

As GTU Vice-Rector Tamar Tsereteli noted, the University Center for Virtual Modeling and Construction, led by David Songhulashvili, has been participating in the competition of inventors and researchers including the teams of schoolchildren for several years.

“One of the priorities of the Georgian Technical University is to promote the development of creative thinking, research, and practical skills in the adolescent generation. The Virtual Modeling and Construction Center has been operating at the university for many years and has become a tradition for its student teams to win the “Leonardo da Vinci” competition.

Once again, we congratulate the young people on this important success. We also commend Batumi N6, Andria Razmadze Kutaisi Physics-Mathematics school N41, and Batumi St. Andria the First-Called school, and their students,” said Tamar Tsereteli.

According to the Dean of the GTU Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, Taliko Zhvania, the Virtual Modeling and Construction Center of the Engineering Physics Department is involved in the educational space in various directions.

“The Department of Engineering Physics of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems provides high-quality education and accordingly, the education of competitive specialists equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge.

In addition, the university implements several successful projects for schoolchildren, among which I would like to highlight the activities of the Virtual Modeling and Construction Center. Over the years, under the mentorship of David Songhulashvili, Teimuraz Chichua, and our scientists, student teams have participated in various competitions, including the ones announced by the Rustaveli National Science Foundation and the Millennium Challenge Foundation-Georgia. It is gratifying that the student teams formed at the base of the center are multiple prize winners of competitions. I congratulate the center and its students on another success”, said Taliko Zhvania.
