The 18th annual international scientific conference “Government and Society-2024”, organized by the Faculty of Business Technologies, Open Diplomacy Association, and the scientific journal “Government and Society - History, Theory, Practice”, was held at the Georgian Technical University.
The international conference was opened by the dean of the GTU Faculty of Business Technologies, who noted in his speech that in addition to Georgian scientists, scientists from leading European universities are participating in the conference through the Zoom platform.
As Professor Rusudan Kutateladze pointed out, public administration is a relatively new field in Georgia, although the Georgian Technical University was one of the first to introduce an educational program in this field.
“Georgian Technical University is the creator of many successes and innovations. Its contribution to the development of science is great, one of the proofs of which is the conference “Government and Society – 2024”. Today, for the eighteenth time, the international conference gathered scientists, professors, and students at the scientific forum to present the results of their scientific activities in such a difficult field as Public Administration and to discuss the most important problems of cooperation between the state and society.
The fact that currently 60% of the professors of the Department of Public Administration and Electronic Business are graduates of the Doctoral Program in Public Administration, is also welcome.
Doctoral public administration students have won the Shota Rustaveli grant many times, which allowed them to learn about the Public Administration practice abroad. Public Administration students practice in Germany, particularly active cooperation connects them with the Saarland Institute of Technology and Economics. Professor Wilhelm Heuser of this institute is also an invited professor and honorary doctor of the Georgian Technical University.
Mr. Wilhelm Heuser, with other German colleagues, comes almost every year to participate in the conference and give public lectures. He leads courses in the MA English-language education program, and Professor Stefan Hutter is the co-director of the English-language doctoral education program in Public Administration. I take this opportunity to welcome the conference participants with great respect, express my gratitude to the organizers, and wish great success to today’s forum,” said Rusudan Kutateladze in her speech.
Mr. Wilhelm Heuser, professor of the Saarland University of Technology and Economics, thanked the conference organizers for the invitation and wished the participants success. As Heuser noted, the Saarland University of Technology and Economics has many years of fruitful cooperation and friendship with the Georgian Technical University, which allows Georgian and German scientists, as well as students, to conduct joint research.
The conference continued in a sectional format. The speakers were divided into 3 sections: Theory, Practice, and Methodology of Public Administration and Public Policy; Politics and Culture; Economic issues and Legal Framework of Public Administration.
