The representatives of the Georgian office of the famous American corporation Kingston Technology, a manufacturer of computer memories, gave a master class to the first-year bachelor students of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems of the Georgian Technical University.
The master class, which was held in the Technical and Research Laboratory named after Jiuli Shartava of GTU, and was attended by the dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, Professor Taliko Zhvania, the Deputy Dean, Professor Lili Petriashvili, the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, Professor Mariam Chkhaidze and the Laboratory Complex Employees were present.
According to Taliko Zhvania, the dean of the faculty, the Kingston Technology master class was interesting and informative for students in many ways.
“The well-known American corporation Kingston Technology is one of the international market producers and developers of innovative computer memory products. The master class was interesting for our students in many aspects.
Young people received current information from Kingston Technology representatives about computer devices and flash memory, as well as their types and usage needs, and learned interesting facts from the history of RAM development.
They were directly involved in the practical process of strengthening and equipping computer devices with memory. It is worth noting that, within the framework of the master class, Kingston gave the faculty operative and fast SSD memories as a gift, through which several educational computers were strengthened,” noted Taliko Zhvania.
According to Mariam Chkhaidze, the head of the Artificial Intelligence Department, such events are important for developing students’ practical skills and activating collaboration between industries and the university.
“This was the first master class from “Kingston”, which, we believe, is a preface of future close cooperation. Similar events will continue with other large companies operating in information technology.
It is significant for Georgian Technical University that the direct communication established between students and industry representatives during the master class increases the interest, motivation, and professional knowledge of the youth,” said Mariam Chkhaidze.
Within the framework of the master class, representatives of Kingston Technology also gave fun prizes to the students. At the end of the event, accompanied by the young people, they visited the GTU educational research laboratory complex of techniques and technologies named after Jiuli Shartava and the electronics museum.
