The representatives of the National Environment Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, as well as the Center for Environmental Information and Education, met with the students of the Georgian Technical University, where they talked about the green and agro scholarship program, as well as paid internships.
Associate Professor Nato Katamadze opened the meeting, organized by the Career Development Department of the GTU Educational Process Management Service.
The head of the career development department of the educational process management service spoke to the students about the importance of the green and agro scholarship program. As Professor Nato Katamadze stated, it is important that Georgian Technical University promotes environmental and agricultural professions. The support of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture is an incentive for students.
“Disasters caused by climate change are a problem of the 21st century, the prevention and early detection of which will save human lives and cause less damage to the country’s economy. To solve these problems, the state implements many programs. It is very important to inform students about green and agro scholarships and to provide them with the news that the Ministry is planning. More information means more motivated young people and subsequently more qualified personnel. As for the participation of students in paid internships and employment, this is our main task and goal, thus we always try to give our students the opportunity for employment and career growth through such meetings", said Nato Katamadze.
The Deputy Head of Teaching Service of GTU, Professor Nino Nishnianidze, thanked the meeting participants.
“Within the framework of the paid internship government program, the Ministry initiative to participate in the student internship competition, the main criterion of which is the student’s academic performance, is welcome. The mentioned paid internship program is implemented for the first time in our country, and it is an excellent opportunity for our students for their future employment and career development,” said Nino Nishnianidze.
At the end of the meeting, the representatives of the National Environment Agency and the Environmental Information and Education Center of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture answered the students’ questions.
