The Day of the Faculty of Construction was celebrated at the Georgian Technical University. The event, which was attended by the GTU administration representatives, deans of faculties, students, guests, heads of companies operating, and specialists in construction. The event was opened by the Chancellor of the Georgian Technical University - Professor Carlo Kopaliani.
The chancellor thanked the guests for their participation in the event and congratulated the dean of the Faculty of Construction, academic staff, and students on the day of the faculty and wished them success.
As Karlo Kopalian noted, the Faculty of Construction is 102 years old and the field is still recognized as a priority by the state. According to the chancellor, for more than a century, the Faculty of Construction of the Georgian Technical University has been training highly qualified personnel.
“I congratulate the academic staff and students of the Faculty of Construction on Faculty Day, I wish success to colleagues and the young generation, and I would like to thank the rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze, for the initiative to establish the Faculty Day. We celebrate the Day of the Faculty of Construction for the second time and meet it with renewed infrastructure within a year. The faculty is actively preparing for the accreditation of the American Engineering and Technology Accreditation Council to obtain international ABET accreditation. The Faculty of Construction of the Georgian Technical University simultaneously prepares Georgian-language and English-language bachelor’s programs in Civil Engineering. It is a matter of pride that the faculty still trains highly qualified personnel. I wish success to the academic staff and students”, said Carlo Kopaliani.
Zaza Tsinadze, manager of the Faculty of Construction, reviewed the faculty history and talked about the successful projects implemented by the Faculty scientific staff and students.
“The rise of the construction faculty started a few years ago, during the period when the dean of the faculty was our current rector. It was during the academician David Gurgenidze’s tenure that such important laboratories as construction training, scientific, expert examination, hydraulic engineering training-scientific and expert, mechanics training-scientific named after Gorgidze, water supply, wastewater, and water purification laboratories were put into operation or retooled. I would like to thank him for the support that every scientist, employee, or student of the Faculty of Construction always feels. Today, students of the Faculty of Construction, under the guidance of their teachers, and scientists, respond to challenges with new research and approaches. I want to wish success to the faculty, students, graduates, and academic staff, “ said Zaal Tsinadze.
The second part of the event dedicated to the day of the Faculty of Construction was devoted to student creativity. Young people presented a concert program.
