Academician Paata Koghuashvili, an internationally recognized scientist and public figure in the field of education, died.

Rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze, on behalf of the university community, expresses his condolences to the family, relatives, and colleagues on the death of academician Paata Koghuashvili. 

“A real member of the Georgian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, economist, politician, doctor of economic sciences, professor and author of many scientific works and monographs, academician Paata Koghuashvili has passed away.

Paata Koghuashvili was engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities. For many years, he worked at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems Engineering of the Georgian Technical University.

Academician Paata Koghuashvili was a participant-speaker of more than 70 international scientific conferences, and the author of 300 scientific works and articles - on agroeconomic, food safety, agricultural cooperation, land and rural development policy problems. 

At various times, Paata Koghuashvili was a member of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia of the first convocation (1990-1991), chairman of the Agrarian Reform Subcommission, member of the State Council, deputy prime minister for agrarian issues (1992), member of the Parliament of the Republic of Georgia of the 3rd convocation (1992-95), deputy chairman of the Finance and Budget Commission. On April 9, 1991, he signed the Act on the Restoration of Independence of Georgia, and in August 1995, he signed the Constitution of Georgia. He was a Knight of the Order of Merit.

Many generations were brought up on the textbooks of academician Paata Koghuashvili. His scientific remains are desk books of scientists and specialists in the agricultural economy. His disciples are recognized scientists and specialists today. Once again, we express our condolences to the family of Paata Koghuashvili! May the Lord bless him and the Georgian land be a kingdom and light for him!”, is said in the letter of condolence.
