For the First Time in Georgia, GTU Will Host the 35th Hegel International Congress
The Georgian Technical University, from September 30th to October 4th, 2024, for the first time in Georgia and the post-Soviet space, will host the 35th Hegel International Jubilee Congress, which is held in different countries under the auspices of the International Hegel Society.

Georgia is the first state where the World Forum will be held after the collapse of the Soviet Union and gaining independence, and the Georgian Technical University will be the first host higher education institution in Georgia. The 35th International Hegel Congress, with the theme “Idea of Goodness and Morality in Hegel’s Philosophy”, will be organized by the International Hegel Society and the Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies and Social Sciences of the Georgian Technical University.

Due to the importance of Hegel’s philosophy and the history of its reception, the International Hegel Society holds the “International Hegel Conference” every two years.

It takes 4-8 years to get the right to conduct it. As a rule, in each competition, 3-4 different countries submit requests.

The congress is financed by the International Hegel Society, as well as various European and American scientific foundations. For information, the first Hegel Congress was hosted by Nuremberg (Germany) in 1956.

It should be noted that the Scientific Council of the International Hegel Society unanimously decided to hold the 35th Anniversary Congress in Georgia in September 2022 at the University of Zadar (Croatia).

The session of the Scientific Council of the International Hegel Society, whose composition is represented by the leading scientists and professors of the Hegel Society and German classical philosophy from different countries, was attended by the rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze and Professor Mamuka Beriashvili of the same university, who is a member of the Scientific Council of the International Hegel Society.

Prominent representatives of the international Hegel society and classical German philosophy worldwide are usually invited to the plenary sessions. The number of congress participants usually does not exceed 450.

The 35th Hegel International Congress will be opened by the rector of the Georgian Technical University of Georgia, academician David Gurgenidze.

Congress participants will be welcomed by: the President of the International Hegel Society, Professor Miriam Gerhard; Heads of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, as well as the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia; Tamar Lominadze, vice-rector of GTU; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies and Social Sciences - Ivane Jagodnishvili and other Georgian and foreign scientists.
