The Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems of the Georgian Technical University enters the 2024-2025 academic year with important innovations and modern infrastructure.
This year, for the first time, admission was made to two new programs - the bachelor’s program “Computer Information Technologies” and the English-language master’s program “Information Technologies in Nuclear Engineering”.
As a result of the Unified National Exams, the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems received 533 new students, including 21 international students, 170 in master’s and 38 in doctoral programs.
According to Professor Taliko Zhvania, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems of GTU, the faculty places special emphasis on the practical and technological development of students.
“The first-year students will have the opportunity to participate in the internship program, which is held in the teaching-scientific and expert laboratories equipped with the latest technologies of the faculty, which allows students to participate in real, innovative projects. This, in turn, is a guarantee for gaining practical experience.
In addition, a memorandum was signed on September 16th, within which students of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems will be able to study for one semester at the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm. Also, the faculty’s academic staff and researchers will be involved in scientific research projects, which will strengthen international cooperation and research integration.
During the year, the faculty plans many scientific-practical events, including conferences, hackathons, and forums, which will help to introduce innovations and strengthen international connections.
Particular attention is paid to modern challenges and achievements of information technologies relevant to local and global technological development.
The faculty expects the International Student Conference “ICT in Life 2024” scheduled for October 7-8. It will cover the latest achievements of information and communication technologies and their use in everyday life.
Also, on November 1-2, the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, Dresden University of Applied Sciences, and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University will jointly hold an international scientific-practical conference “Modern Challenges and Achievements in Information and Communication Technologies – 2024”, - announced the dean.
The Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems is actively involved in promoting technological development and expanding international cooperation.
