The Vice-Rector of GTU: “We Welcome the New Academic Year with Updated Educational and Research Laboratories”
The Georgian Technical University will celebrate the start of the 2024-2025 academic year on September 16th with a large-scale event. The university will dedicate the event to welcoming students and the reception of the 102nd stream of freshmen.

The event of welcoming students - WELCOME TO GTU - will be held in an open space with the support of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University and the organization of the administration.

Entertainment spaces will be organized for the students, and the GTU musical group - The Blackberries will perform live for the students.

DJ Lasha Sultanishvili will continue the concert program and offer the best compositions to young people.

According to the vice-rector of GTU - Tamar Tsereteli, in the 2024-2025 academic year, the university will meet with updated infrastructure and teaching and research laboratories equipped with the latest equipment, corresponding to the European standard.

“I congratulate the entrants enrolled in the Georgian Technical University on a new stage of life and wish them success. Mathematics is a compulsory subject in Engineering.

According to the Unified National Exams results, we can confidently say that the average level of mathematics knowledge has risen.

Across Georgia, 28 applicants received 51 points in Mathematics and 700 from 35 to 51, most of whom became students of our university.

I think the Georgian Technical University has contributed to this result because for several years GTU has been offering free online courses for students in STEM subjects. The courses aim at preparing entrants according to two modules – “Mathematics + Physics” or “Mathematics + Chemistry”.

This is an unprecedented project, and the leading subject in both modules is Mathematics, although alongside it, GTU allows entrants to study another STEM subject, Physics or Chemistry. Which of these two additional subjects the applicant will study depends on his/her choice.

It should be noted that in the category “Entrant”, the Georgian Technical University includes students of the graduating (11th and 12th) grades of schools in different cities and regions.

Also, those citizens who have finished school up to the age of 20 and are not studying in higher educational institutions.

I would like to highlight the Faculty of Sustainable Mountain Development and the Mining and Geology.

The first one is relatively new, and the second one faces some problems.

This year we have 100% admission in both faculties.

In addition to Engineering courses, we have 100% enrollment in Humanitarian courses.

255 applicants got a 50% grant, 44 got a 70% grant, and 32 got a 100% grant at the Unified National Examinations.

I wish success to the students”, said Tamar Tsereteli.

For information: 36 out of 70 educational programs of Georgian Technical University have been declared a priority by the state and are fully funded.
