The presentation of the book dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the famous public figure, scientist, diplomat, lawyer, and historian Zurab Avalishvili was held at the Georgian Technical University.
The author of the new edition – “Political and Legal Views of Zurab Avalishvili" - is Professor Givi Lobzhanidze of the Faculty of Law and International Relations of the University.

As the dean noted, even though Zurab Avalishvili’s invaluable contribution to the people and the country was looked through by famous researchers, including professors Guram Mamulia and Guram Sharadze, the leading moments of his life, work, and creativity have not been the subject of a monographic study before. According to him, Professor Givi Lobzhanidze’s work is a successful attempt to fill this gap, and it will serve excellently lawyers, political scientists, historians, and any interested readers, especially the next generation. As Irakli Gabisonia mentioned, the editor of the book is the president of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, academician Roin Metreveli, and the reviewers are academician Omar Gogiashvili and professors Vazha Gurgenidze and Davit Lobzhanidze.
“The author, Professor Givi Lobzhanidze, based on the study of archival materials and literature, comprehensively presented the biography of the great Georgian - Zurab Avalishvili and the main aspects of his life and character, vividly described the relations between Russia and Georgia and presented Avalishvili’s political and legal vision and priorities against the background of the legal assessment of democratic Georgia.
It should be noted that Givi Lobzhanidze purposefully studies the work of prominent representatives of Georgian society. His works on the life and legal-political views of Great Ilia, Niko Nikoladze, and Archil Djordjadze are significant. We are sure that interested readers, specialists, and the young generation will appropriately evaluate the new edition and successfully use it for further research”, said Irakli Gabisonia.
Associate Professor Tamar Tsereteli, the vice-rector of the Georgian Technical University, welcomed the public and thanked the author for the new scientific work. She noted that the administration of the university and personally the Rector, academician David Gurgenidze highly appreciate the research on the life and work of the great patriot done by the university scientists, which is especially significant in terms of raising future generations, expanding their horizons and forming them as professionals.
As the vice-rector noted, Givi Lobzhanidze’s scientific research, which was published for the first time in the form of a monograph, is distinguished by the simplicity of the narration and effortlessly introduces the reader to the life and work of the outstanding Georgian - Zurab Avalishvili, the period of his life in emigration, the tireless care from Europe for a better future of the homeland, the research of the history and culture of Georgia, his devotion to work, state thinking and visions. As Tamar Tsereteli mentioned, the book is read with great interest, undoubtedly increasing its value.
