The Rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze, met with the granddaughter of the last emperor of Austria-Hungary, Karl I, the ambassador of Georgia to Germany from 2009 to 2013, Gabriela von Habsburg.

The conversation between the parties touched on the development of academic and scientific collaboration between Georgia and the Republic of Austria and the rapprochement of the scientific circles and young generations of the two countries through the implementation of joint projects and educational programs.

Academician David Gurgenidze thanked Gabriela von Habsburg for her visit and cooperation with the Georgian Technical University and the International School of Design. As he said the university and the faculty are ready to deepen cooperation.

The rector also noted that the Georgian Technical University is one of the leaders in the South Caucasus region, both in terms of engineering technologies and innovations and in the humanitarian direction. University scientists conduct fundamental and applied research and participate in important international projects and global scientific experiments.

Our university has an excellent educational-scientific infrastructure and material-technical base in the form of modern laboratories, which we can use for successful collaboration and common goals. We will be glad if your cooperation with the Georgian Technical University deepens and you give lectures to the students of the International School of Design and the Faculty of Architecture”, said David Gurgenidze.

Gabriela von Habsburg thanked the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze, and the participants of the meeting: Chairman of the Supervisory Board (President) Professor Lavrenti Gudavadze, Deputy Rector in the field of Science, Professor Tamar Lominadze and representatives of the administration for the warm meeting. As Gabriela von Habsburg said, it is a great honor for her to cooperate with the Georgian Technical University.

After the meeting with the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Gabriela von Habsburg visited the rich library, reading rooms, and rare collections of the University Library named after Niko Muskhelishvili.
