Academic education
The quality assurance system of Georgian Technical University with complex mechanisms and tools has a positive impact on the educational process of the university and in this regard, the interest of each event is united in compliance with the necessary conditions for the development of educational programmes and in achieving the best possible quality in the process of their implementation.
1.1 Educational programmes
Academic freedom serves as the foundation for the development of educational programmes, which move from academic to administrative structural units.
The entity responsible for the development of each component of the educational programme is clearly established depending on the structure of the programme. More specifically:
- The specialists and academic staff of the relevant academic department work together to ensure the development of study topics and study courses as a whole.
- For achieving the goal and result of learning a particular course, the author of the training course and the course implementers determine the best:
- Educational topics
- Amount of study credit
- Teaching/learning methods
- Assessment methods
- Necessary literature and other resources
- The head of the educational programme oversees and directs the development process of the integrated training courses within the framework of the programme.
- The relevant academic department(s) validate the activity of the staff implementing the educational programme.
- The main educational unit's governing body reviews educational programme decisions.
- If the governing body of the main educational unit makes a positive decision, the procedures for consideration and approval of the issue continue and conclude at the university's academic council.
Each stage listed above:
- Takes into consideration the content and interests, it allows for the maximum participation of those interested in the educational programme (students, graduates, employers, professional associations, partner organisations, and so on).
- Takes into account external evaluation of various quality and capacity.
The faculty and university's quality assurance services control and ensure the process of implementing all of the above-mentioned stages with appropriate quality, both content and formal, through direct participation in relevant sessions, consulting, workshops, and trainings, in accordance with the procedure established for proceedings.
