Special Olympics Georgia organised a basketball tournament in the capital city of Tbilisi on 29 November 2009. In total, fifty Special Olympics basketball players completed in the event held at Tbilisi Technical University Basketball Hall. The Technical University national basketball team also participated in the tournament which was organised in two divisions.
The coach of the Technical University national team was the official referee, and fifty volunteers from the University were involved in the event. The university also provided awards and transportation for the day, allowing Special Olympics athletes involved in other disciplines to attend as spectators.
