“GTU Star”, which has gained significant popularity among students, has been successfully implemented at the Georgian Technical University since 2013. The project is supported by the administration of the Georgian Technical University, the author of the project is Natia Ivanashvili, and the organizer, together with the author, is the Department of GTU Culture and Sports of the Student Services. The musical director of “GTU Star 2026” is musician Ketevan Odzelashvili; the participants are evaluated by a 5-member jury, with the fifth member rotating based on the specific musical genre of each round.

In the Ivane Javakhishvili Great Hall, the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, welcomed the students participating in “GTU Star” and wished them success.

As the rector noted, it is especially important and gratifying for the university administration to support such youth projects that continue the rich creative and cultural traditions of the university.

“We welcome with joy and love our talented youth - participants of the competition, whose determination, hard work, talent, and love for music will make this year’s “GTU Star” unforgettable for students and the entire university community. I would like to thank the author of the competition, the organizers, and the jury members, with whose efforts, I am sure, “GTU Star 2026” will be successfully implemented. I would like to thank the head of the Youth Agency, Vato Baakashvili, the guests, and the student teams of various faculties of our university, who are ready to tirelessly support their favorite performers during all three rounds of the competition.

I wish our students to never stop developing and always take advantage of the opportunities that their alma mater offers them during their student years. I am sure that this year’s “GTU Star” will identify and pave the way for many talented students.

This competition is held with respect for the rich cultural and creative traditions of the Georgian Technical University, and it is no coincidence that the project is dedicated to the memory of Goga Giorgobiani, a leader and graduate of our university’s youth in the 1990s, a person distinguished by his youth ideas and projects and who cared immensely for his native university - as a sign of the infinite connection between the past and the present and the aspiration for the best future. The competition promotes the popularization of culture and art among students and develops the principles of teamwork. It is precisely through such projects that new stars are born, which once again convinces us that our students not only become leaders in engineering or humanitarian fields, but also stand out with other special talents, including creative skills,” noted Rector David Gurgenidze.

Before the start of the first round of the competition, at the Georgian Technical University, at the initiative of the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, in honor of the memory of Goga Giorgobiani, his memorial photo took an honorable place in the gallery of distinguished scientists, teachers, and distinguished graduates of the university.

Along with the university administration, students and professors, the ceremony was attended by members of Goga Giorgobiani’s family and the head of the Youth Agency, Vakhtang Baakashvili.
