According to the rector, the diplomas of Georgian and French universities, within the framework of the joint bachelor’s program in food technology, were obtained by the fifth batch of graduates of the Georgian Technical University.

“I congratulate our graduates on their significant success, which includes the completion of the double-degree educational program! We are confident that all eight young people will continue their studies in the master’s degree with the same enthusiasm and will not only deepen the knowledge acquired at the universities of two countries - Georgia and France - but shortly, it will also contribute to the development of our country. This important international educational project would not have been possible without a fruitful partnership with the French-Georgian University, which was established with the multilateral support of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia and the Embassy of France in Georgia. It is within the framework of this partnership that the cooperation of the Georgian Technical University with the French University of Rennes 1 is gradually developing and expanding. Within the framework of the joint educational project, the Georgian Technical University coordinates the implementation of the Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology and the Master’s Degree in Oenology and Viticulture double-degree programs. It is noteworthy that these talented young people are the fifth batch of bachelors of the Food Technology program of our university, who simultaneously obtained two diplomas - from the Georgian Technical University and the French University of Rennes 1. This is the result of the great work of the teachers, along with the students. It is noteworthy that within the framework of the program, four successful students completed a full internship course in France. We thank the Government of Georgia, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth, personally Minister Givi Mikanadze, the Embassy of France in Georgia, the French-Georgian University, and the University of Rennes 1 for supporting the educational process,” noted Academician David Gurgenidze.

The graduates were congratulated by the Vice-Rectors, the Dean of the Faculty, and representatives of the French-Georgian University on the successful completion of the Georgian-French program.

With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and the Embassy of France in Georgia, within the framework of the French-Georgian University, a joint Georgian-French double-degree bachelor’s program “Food Technology” was launched at the Georgian Technical University from the 2020-2021 academic year, which also includes the 60-credit module of the French University of Rennes 1 – “Production Management in the Dairy Industry”. The joint program is taught in English.

French professors and experts are involved in the educational process, sharing their theoretical and practical experience with Georgian students. Within the framework of the program, students undergo a 4-month internship in dairy production companies in France and Georgia. The final evaluation of the students is given by a special jury, with the participation of the French side.
