10 winning student ideas were revealed within the framework of the large-scale university initiative – “Innovative Ideas Competition - Future Projects” implemented at the Georgian Technical University in 2025, to promote the generation of innovative ideas among students and graduates and their practical implementation.
Out of the 18 student ideas that made it to the finals of the “Innovative Ideas Competition - Projects of the Future”, the jury selected the 10 best ideas as winners: Biocaps; Veritas; Kalme; Metacraft; BABA WIND; Make Exchange; Georgian Body Armor; Heliguard - Security from the sky; EMIGO; Food-Box.
The event, which was attended by deans of various faculties of the Georgian Technical University, professors and teachers, and students, representatives of the GTU administration, participants in the competition and their mentors, as well as industry representatives and guests, was opened by the Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Lominadze.
As the Vice-Rector noted, the initiative, which aims to activate the innovative potential of the youth, included several stages, including a series of multi-week intensive mentoring and training sessions with mentorship from university academic staff and British experts.
“Such competitions are an important component for the sustainable development of the university space, internal and external relations. The project promotes the integration of students and graduates into real business processes, strengthening collaboration between the academic sector and industry in real-time. We consider this initiative to be a platform that significantly accelerates the professional and career advancement of the youth. It is important that this initiative responds to modern educational trends and contributes to the establishment of the Georgian Technical University as a center of scientific and practical innovations. On behalf of the Georgian Technical University and its Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, we congratulate the authors of the winning ideas, all students participating in the innovative idea competition, and their mentors - we believe that, taking into account prospects, our young people have gained much-needed and comprehensive experience in the university space”, noted Professor Tamar Lominadze.
The organizers of the event awarded certificates to the authors of the winning ideas and participants of the innovative idea competition, while partner organizations - leading companies: “Honeywell”, “Baumer”, “Avtotechno”, “Autoban”, “Mina”, “Sante-Lactalis” - awarded their favorite teams with various valuable gifts.
According to the event organizers, the winning projects, with professors and teachers, through consultations, will go through the acceleration and incubation stages within the university program framework. As the organizers note, the goal of the university initiative is to share entrepreneurial experience among students, graduates, and young employees, develop their skills, and promote the launch of new businesses, which will also stimulate close partnership between the Georgian Technical University and industries. They say it is important that the development of an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the university space is increasingly based on systematic support for students’ ideas, and in this process, special importance is attached to programs that allow students to receive structured knowledge, academic, and practical support at the very stage of idea formation and refinement.
The “Innovative Ideas Competition - Future Projects” was held in coordination with the GTU Vice-Rector with the involvement of the University Office of Technology and Grant Projects and the University Center - “Together”.
The main partner of the competition was the GTU Department of Student Services, Sports and Culture, while academic support, with British experts, was provided by the academic team of the GTU Entrepreneurial Management Educational Program.
