The Georgian Technical University, in the direction of social responsibility, within the framework of the cycle of pre-New Year events, launched a charity event from the nursing home “Imedi”, where 35 beneficiaries were given products, first aid, and hygiene items.
With the initiative and support of the university rector, pre-New Year charity events aimed at supporting the elderly are traditionally held. As in previous years, this time too, the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, Professor Taliko Zhvania, faculty representatives, students, and the head of the GTU Women’s Association, Professor Nazi Kutsiava, presented humanitarian packages to the beneficiaries of the boarding house “Imedi”.
According to the Dean of the GTU Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, with such activities, the Georgian Technical University once again emphasizes the role of the academic community in strengthening social solidarity and establishing humane values. As Professor Taliko Zhvania stated, the active involvement of university representatives contributes to the development of a culture of civic responsibility and social engagement among students, and charitable events become an important example of the relationship between education and social responsibility.
“For the Georgian Technical University, charitable events are not a one-time activity, but a systematic expression of the university’s social responsibility. Such an initiative, which has already become a tradition, serves to support vulnerable groups and to strengthen the unity of values among students and the academic community. Student involvement is crucial because this is how social responsibility, compassion, and civic self-awareness are formed in them. The university, as an educational and public institution, is obliged to be an active participant in processes that are based on human dignity and solidarity. I would like to thank each student and employee for their involvement in the action, and the rector for his support and cooperation,” said Professor Taliko Zhvania.
As the head of the GTU Women’s Association, Professor Nazi Kutsiava, noted, with the support of the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, the GTU faculties with the Women’s Association, are holding various charity events for the beneficiaries of the nursing home as part of the pre-New Year events.
“For the Women’s Association, such meetings are not just about assisting - they are an expression of human connection, attention, and compassion. Personal contact with the elderly is significant because warmth is no less valuable to them than material assistance. In the pre-New Year period, such initiatives remind us that social unity begins with caring for each person. This is precisely the main mission of the Women’s Association. I want to thank the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems for their cooperation, and the rector for his constant support,” said the head of the Women’s University Association, Professor Nazi Kutsiava.
Charity events will continue and will be focused on various social groups.
