6 Research Projects of GTU Became the Winners of the Rustaveli Foundation Applied Research Grant Competition
Six research projects developed by the scientists of the Georgian Technical University became the winners of the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia’s 2025 State Scientific Grant Competition for Applied Research.

55 project applications were registered for the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia’s grant competition, including 15 projects submitted by the Georgian Technical University.

The assessment of grant projects was conducted in two stages: an assessment of technology transfer and commercialization potential by local independent experts, and a scientific evaluation of the project by international independent expert groups. According to the results, 27 projects received grant funding, 6 of which are led by scientists from the Georgian Technical University.

As announced by the GTU Technology and Grant Projects Office, the GTU winners of the 2025 State Scientific Grant Competition for Applied Research of the Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation were: Marina Kapanadze from the GTU Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies, with the paper “A Green Energy-Efficient Method for the Production of Low-Chemical Pozzolanic Cement” and Aleko Kalandia (in partnership with Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University), with the paper “Pilot Test of Preservation Processes of Some Subtropical Fruits (Feijoa, Persimmon, Citrus) with Pseudoprotein Food Coating”; Nikoloz Loladze from the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, with the paper - “Production and testing of new diamond tools with pre-planned properties on construction sites”; Iamze Kvartskhava from the Vladimer Chavchanidze Institute of Cybernetics of GTU, with the paper - “Improvement of thermoelectric characteristics of CaMnO3-based materials”; Gela Kipiani from the Faculty of Construction, with the paper - “Four-seater vertical parking” and Malkhaz Turdzeladze from the Faculty of Construction, with the paper - “Introduction of the production of a filler additive that enhances the frost resistance of concrete in Georgia”; Nino Pailodze from the Faculty of Power Engineering, with the paper - “Experimental design of a wind energy receiving device”.

The Rector of the Georgian Technical University congratulates the authors of the winning projects in the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation grant competition on their next success. According to Academician David Gurgenidze, winning grant competitions is undoubtedly a great incentive for the university and its researchers, and the fact that six of the 27 winning projects were developed by scientists from the Georgian Technical University is definitely a perfect result.

“The victory of six research projects submitted by our university scientists in the Rustaveli National Science Foundation’s Applied Research Grant Competition is a clear confirmation that the research conducted at the Georgian Technical University responds to modern challenges and is distinguished by high scientific, technological, and practical value. The particular importance is the fact that the winning projects cover various faculties, research institutes, and scientific directions, indicating the diversity of the university’s research potential. Obtaining research grants is undoubtedly a great incentive for our researchers, young scientists, and the university as a whole, which actively promotes both the development of innovations and the process of technological transfer and commercialization of research. I would like to congratulate our researchers on their victory in the competition and wish them new successes for the benefit of the Georgian Technical University and our country,” notes Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze.
