A new demonstration space has been opened at the Georgian Technical University, at the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, within the framework of the “Baumer” Academy, an educational project of the “Baumer” engineering company.
The specially designed space is intended for both students and the “Baumer” Academy training participants. The new infrastructure will allow them to practically become acquainted with modern standards in the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) engineering field, innovative technologies, and the specifics of real work processes.
As the Vice-Rector of GTU states, the space is fully equipped with the equipment and technical resources used in the MEP industry today. According to Professor Tamar Tsereteli, the opening of the new space is an important initiative, especially for the professional advancement of future engineers.
“The new demonstration space of the “Baumer” Academy allows young people to apply theoretical knowledge in a real engineering environment, deepen their professional vision, and practically develop the skills that the modern engineering industry needs. We attach particular importance to the fact that this space creates a full-fledged platform for experience-based learning, where theory and practice are organically integrated. In this environment, students are allowed to directly witness the course of technological processes, engage in various research, and deepen their knowledge through the analysis and modeling of real conditions. We believe that such an infrastructure creates an essential prerequisite for the sustainable development of critical thinking, analytical skills, and professional competencies. I believe that the new space of the “Baumer” Academy significantly contributes to the preparation of students for the challenges facing the modern engineering sector, and allows them to develop into competitive professionals,” says Tamar Tsereteli.
According to the Dean of the GTU Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering, such projects contribute to the deepening of cooperation between the university and the private sector, which ultimately significantly increases the competitiveness of students in the labor market. According to Professor Boris Githolendia, the partnership with the company will continue in the future, and the program will be further expanded in order to provide students with more practical experience and opportunities for professional development.
“This innovative space, focused on practical training and created with modern standards, aims to provide joint cutting-edge qualification programs, training, and practical sessions for GTU students, academic staff, and “Baumer” staff. It is mainly intended for the field-specific educational programs of the Faculty of Transportation Systems and Mechanical Engineering, as well as the Faculty of Construction, and will provide students with the opportunity to both deepen their theoretical knowledge and get as close as possible to real work processes,” says Professor Boris Gitolandia.
