“Gallery Universe” has been actively promoting the creativity of our university’s students and employees since its opening. Today’s exhibition is another proof that many talented people work within the walls of the Georgian Technical University. The exhibition of works by professors and teachers of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies pleasantly surprises the viewer. “Painting with Thread” - different stories, rich color range, compositions created with embroidery cause admiration, because each work is the fruit of long and scrupulous work. I would like to thank the exhibition’s authors and the “Universe” team. It is precisely with such synergy, initiative and professionalism that an environment is created that strengthens the desire of the university community to reveal their creative abilities,” said Badri Lebanidze, Head of the GTU Department of Cultural Direction in the Department of Student Services, Culture and Sports, at the opening of the exhibition of women scientists from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies at the “Universe” Gallery.

Women scientists from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Chemical Technologies of the Georgian Technical University - Zhuzhuna Petriashvili, Guliko Tabatadze, Marina Kekuladze, Lili Maskharashvili, and Makvala Khabazi, a graduate of the same faculty - held a group exhibition at the “Universe” Gallery and presented to the visitors a unique collection of embroidery - about 70 hand-embroidered works of various styles, techniques, and content.

According to the head of the GTU “Universe” Gallery, the aim of the exhibition is to showcase the creative skills of women scientists and strengthen their cultural and creative role in society. According to Professor Lali Ghogheliani, the event is being held within the framework of the “60+” project, implemented in Georgia with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and partner organizations.

The main direction of the project is to promote healthy and active aging policies in Georgia, and similar initiatives foster the involvement and creative activity of the adult generation. As Lali Ghogheliani notes, the works are an expression not only of creative skills but also of great inner energy, precision, and emotional experience.

“All the presented embroideries are distinguished by professional execution, individual style, and amazing depth. The author’s handwriting and experience are felt in each work. That is why this exhibition aroused special interest. It is a great honor for us that, within the framework of the 60+ project, the first event at the university was held at the “Universe”. The university was happy to include its space and resources, because we fully share the goals of the project - to support active, healthy, and creative aging. This initiative added new energy to our gallery. The authors were selected as successful scientists and people who, with their creative vision, could enrich the university’s cultural space. When selecting the embroideries, we took into account the theme, technical quality, and the emotional value that each work has. We wanted the exhibition to be diverse, inspiring, and impressive for any age group,” says Lali Ghogheliani.
