A presentation of the youth project “Me, Family, State” was held for students of the Georgian Technical University, with the participation of the GTU Rector, members of the Parliament of Georgia, the Chairman of the Demographic Revival Fund of Georgia, the Youth Agency, and representatives of the Tbilisi City Hall.
The project for youth is implemented by the Demographic Revival Fund of Georgia, with co-financing from Tbilisi City Hall within the framework of the Youth Agency’s grant competition “Development of Youth Organizations”. The meeting held at the Georgian Technical University was attended by The Career Development Unit of the Educational Process Management Service, together with the students, the President of the GTU Supervisory Board, Vice-Rectors, and Professors, as well as students.
The event was opened by the Rector of the Georgian Technical University. As Academician David Gurgenidze noted, young people face serious challenges in terms of value synthesis.
“Young people are facing one of the main challenges of modernity - this is the combination of national traditions and democratic values. It is also necessary for young people to have spaces where they can generate new ideas, understand values, and deepen their sense of responsibility. Such situations are most common in the university environment. We believe that understanding national traditions, historical experience, and modern democratic visions and their synthesis is a serious process of self-awareness and, in a way, determines the country’s future. That is why we welcome this initiative, which is implemented in the form of a project and gives young people the opportunity to maintain balance, form their own position, and actively engage in strengthening state thinking,” noted Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze.
The project objectives and implementation methods were presented to the students by the author, the chairman of the Demographic Revival Foundation, Tamar Chiburdanidze. According to her, the project aims to solve critical challenges facing Georgian youth, popularize, and integrate national and cultural values. Also, to synthesize traditional values with modern democratic principles in the consciousness of the youth, which will contribute to the national, democratic, and sovereign development of the Georgian state.
According to the chairman of the Demographic Revival Foundation, the project will be implemented in the form of a competition and in four thematic directions; in each direction, the main line will be maintained: the relationship between the citizen, the family and the state within the framework of the presented slogan – “We keep the old, we seek the new”, and the competition works will be presented according to thematic nominations.
Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Sozar Subari spoke to the students about state policy and the demographic situation in the country, while Member of the Parliament of Georgia Zurab Kadagidze focused on the role of youth and their involvement in overcoming demographic challenges.
As noted at the meeting, the project “Me, Family, State” is being implemented throughout Georgia. 21 higher education institutions, several vocational colleges, and about 20 youth and diaspora organizations across Europe have already participated in it. After the capital city, information meetings will be held in regional universities. In January, it is planned to present the project to diaspora organizations. The winning contestants will be announced at the end of the project, at the end of February 2026.
