A delegation from the Georgian Technical University participated in the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ CBHE project - “Promoting Creative Engineering Education for a Sustainable Green World” (GreenEngine).

At the GreenEngine kick-off meeting, held at the INNO Technopark in Tashkent, the Georgian Technical University was presented by Giorgi Mikiashvili, Head of the GTU Technology and Grants Projects Office, and Eduard Demetrashvili, Coordinator of International Projects.

The GreenEngine project envisages modernizing engineering education by integrating green engineering, sustainable development principles, and creative approaches into university curricula.

The event brought together representatives of universities and organizations from Georgia, Uzbekistan, and the European Union. During the meeting, the partners discussed the project’s work plans, action strategies, and cooperation mechanisms that will contribute to the development of innovative and environmentally friendly engineering education in the region.

As Giorgi Mikiashvili, Head of the GTU Technology and Grants Projects Office, states, the Georgian Technical University, as the leader of Work Package 2 – “Updating the Analysis of Existing Curriculums and EU Best Practices”, presented at the meeting a detailed draft work plan and a concept for survey questionnaires, which will be used for a comprehensive analysis of engineering curricula operating in partner universities - to identify their structural features, existing opportunities in the direction of green and sustainable engineering, as well as to identify gaps.

“The submitted work plan envisages clear stages of data collection, evaluation, and comparative analysis of results, so that the project ensures effective integration of proven experience and best practices in leading universities in the European Union. As for the concept of the survey questionnaires, it aims to systematize the opinions of academic staff, students, and administration of partner institutions, which will contribute to the purposeful planning of the modernization process of educational programs. The program of the initial meeting also included a tour of the INNO Technopark infrastructure, thematic sessions on financial management, quality assurance, dissemination, and sustainability, as well as networking activities. The participation of the Georgian Technical University in the project - GreenEngine contributes to the strengthening of international cooperation of the university and the maximum approximation of engineering education to modern EU standards,” says Giorgi Mikiashvili.

During the session, participants of the Erasmus+ CBHE project “Promoting Creative Engineering Education for a Sustainable Green World” defined future work and deadlines for their implementation.
