“We understand that living and studying in a foreign country is not easy. It requires courage, a certain flexibility, and determination. It is these qualities - combined with the desire to learn, think, research, and fill the world with new discoveries - that form professionalism and cultivate the character of a true researcher. During your student life, you will always have support from the Georgian Technical University in the process of receiving education and research, in professional development, and in your aspirations, which will undoubtedly pave the way for your success. Thank you for being a part of the GTU. I wish you interesting discoveries and successful steps towards your professional future,” said the Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Lominadze, during a meeting with international students.
The event was also attended by first-year international students enrolled in the 2025/2026 academic year at the Georgian Technical University.
Tamar Lominadze, on behalf of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, wished success to the international students. According to the Vice-Rector, construction, architecture, energy, informatics, design, and business technologies are the main fields in which there is a growing interest among international students enrolled in the GTU, which in turn indicates the compliance of the university’s educational programs with international requirements.
“We warmly welcome our international students, including international freshmen enrolled this year - we thank you for choosing the Georgian Technical University! On behalf of the Rector, Academician David Gurgenidze, we would like to wish you success and a fruitful academic year. We are sure that in the classrooms, laboratories, and research groups, you will have to share knowledge and experience with young people of different cultures and beliefs, as well as with Georgian citizens and professors, which will make the learning process doubly interesting for you. This will not only be the path to academic and research success, but also the basis for making new friends and future international cooperation. Our great desire is for you to actively participate in university life, acquire a profession, become interested in science, feel Georgian culture, get acquainted with the history of our country, and make your own contribution to the diverse academic and scientific environment of the Georgian Technical University,” the Vice-Rector noted.
International students were welcomed and wished success by Lela Chikovani, Coordinator of GTU International Student Recruitment and Integration into the Academic and Social Life of the University of Georgia, Department of International Relations; David Leshkasheli, President of the GTU Student Self-Government; and Anano Mchedlishvili, Head of the University Center for Marketing and Communications.
As Lela Chikovani noted, the Georgian Technical University team spares no effort in integrating international students into university life. She urged international students to use all the opportunities that the university provides them.
“You will always receive the necessary advice, assistance, and feel our support throughout your student life. Adapting to a new environment requires great effort and self-discipline, but remember, you are not alone. The Georgian Technical University International Relations Office will support you in every way and guide you to success. Your life is full of new opportunities and interesting discoveries. Our desire is that, in parallel with studies and research, you will use all the opportunities that the university gives you: to get involved in student life, university activities, find as many friends as possible, share your experience with peers and teachers, and discover Georgia - its history, culture, and people. We are sure that each of you will become worthy representatives of your faculty and university community,” noted Lela Chikovani.
The meeting with international students ended with a concert featuring university creative groups.
