“The visit to the Royal Institute of British Architects is an important step on the path of strategic integration in the global educational space for the International Design School of the Georgian Technical University. An international dialogue of this format is the basis for future strategic cooperation,” said Nika Shavishvili, professor of the International Design School (IDS) of GTU, summarizing his visit to RIBA.

Professor Nika Shavishvili paid a five-day visit to the Royal Institute of British Architects in London. During the visit, Nika Shavishvili met with RIBA representatives, and they discussed the prospects for future cooperation.

As Professor Shavishvili states, during the visit, he became thoroughly acquainted with the accreditation and validation procedures of the institute. The main goal of the review was to analyze the necessary requirements to ensure that IDS adheres to the highest international standards of architectural education.

“It is very important to receive recommendations directly from RIBA. This cooperation will help us develop programs tailored not only to the requirements of local but also international practice and increase our ability to attract foreign students. I would like to emphasize that the International Design School of the GTU is developing into one of the leading innovative educational centers in the region with globally recognized organizations such as RIBA. The cooperation once again emphasizes IDS’s efforts towards quality education and international cooperation, which will significantly strengthen its competitiveness and recognition in the world architectural education space. The cooperation will also contribute to increasing student mobility, expanding international partnerships, and strengthening joint research activities,” says Nika Shavishvili.
