The closing ceremony of the 89th Open International Scientific Conference of Students and the awarding of the winners were held at the Georgian Technical University. For many years, this conference has served as a unique academic platform, helping to identify the scientific potential of young individuals, enhance their research skills, and foster international collaboration.

The International Student Conference was organized with the support of Rector Academician David Gurgenidze and the university administration, and was arranged by the GTU Department of Student Services, Culture, and Sports. A total of 580 students participated in the conference, which featured 57 different sectoral sections.

The Faculty of Construction worked in 3 sections and 18 students presented their work; the Faculty of Energy had 6 sections and 46 students; the Faculty of Mining and Geology had 5 sections and 39 students; the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy had 6 sections and 51 students; the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design had 2 sections and 39 students; the Faculty of Law and International Relations had 2 sections and 55 students; the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems had 133 students working in 9 sections; 23 students from the International School of Design had 1 section; At the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems Engineering - 54 students in 6 sections, at the Faculty of Business Technologies - 20 students in 4 sections, at the Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies and Social Sciences - 52 students in 66 sections; at the Faculty of Sustainable Mountain Development - 13 students in 1 section, and at the Faculty of Transport Systems and Mechanical Engineering - 6 sections with the participation of 37 students worked.

At the 89th Open International Scientific Conference of Students, which lasted from June 5th to June 21st of this year, 143 students won first place, 105 - second, and 63 - third. The winning students were awarded at the closing event of the conference.

Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, expressed his gratitude to the young participants of the 89th Open International Scientific Conference of Students, as well as to the Department of Student Services, Culture, and Sports, and its head, Levan Pipia. He emphasized that the student scientific conference serves as an important platform for young people to showcase their research potential, enhance their academic skills, and engage in scientific dialogue on an international level.

The Rector also extended special thanks to the scientific committee of the conference, the program groups, technical staff, and mentors, whose support enabled the students to present high-quality and academically rigorous papers. He affirmed that the Georgian Technical University has always been, and will continue to be, a strong supporter of young scientists and researchers, pledging to implement various initiatives that encourage student research.

“We are pleased that the conference is becoming larger every year, and the participation of international students is also increasing. This confirms the growing role of our university in the global educational space. The students’ enthusiasm and research interests truly deserve recognition. This conference is not only about sharing results, but also about discovering new scientific ideas, connecting with like-minded individuals, and initiating future collaborations.

First of all, I would like to sincerely congratulate each participant, both local and international students, on their successful participation in the conference. They presented impressive research papers, new visions, and innovative ideas, which demonstrate the intellectual potential of the next generation.

The conference showcased a diverse array of topics within the fields of civil engineering, architecture, urban development, informatics, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, chemical technology, environmental engineering, mining and geology, energy, and the humanities. It is particularly impressive that the students displayed a deep and well-rounded understanding of their respective fields.

The enthusiasm and dedication that the students showed for science, along with their commitment to professionalism, serve as a significant motivation for us. I believe this conference marks an important step toward the professional development of the younger generation. I wish all the young participants much success,” the rector stated.
