At the Georgian Technical University, as part of another charity event, amateur actors from the Student Public Theater-Studio “Modinakhe” presented the play “The Last Seagull” based on the play of Mikho Mosulishvili, directed by Giorgi Chanturia.

The charity performance was held to help 4-year-old Elene Partsvania.

According to Giorgi Chanturia, the director of the GTU Student Public Theater Studio “Modinakhe”, the aim of the amateur actors extended beyond just presenting art, theater, or performance. They sought to convey compassion, care, and warmth towards a large, socially vulnerable family, whose youngest member, Elene, is currently receiving treatment at the burn center.

“The theater belongs to and should serve the people, this is our belief, so “Modinakhe” very often holds charity events. Charity is an integral part of the worldview of our university, as expressed by our rector, academician David Gurgenidze, and it is with his support that we united for Elene. This time, every applause, donation, and heartbreak is for Elene’s health and happy future. Charity is the warmth we feel when someone else’s pain becomes ours. It reminds us that with each other’s support, we can even change the world,” says Giorgi Chanturia.

For information, “The Last Seagull” is a one-act drama that depicts one of the most tragic events in Georgia’s recent history, which took place on September 27th, 1993.

The play premiered in December 2024, and recently won first place and the main prize at the Sighnaghi International Theater Festival.
