“The knowledge gained at the Georgian Technical University, the introduction of the basics of a specialty with a long tradition by highly qualified professors and teachers, sharing the results of scientific research, and participating in research on new types of cement and materials have made a significant contribution to my professional development,” says Teo Robakidze, Doctor of Engineering Sciences, graduate of the GTU Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Quality and Research and Development Manager of “Honeywell Cement”.
Teo Robakidze completed all three levels of higher education: a Bachelor’s degree (2005), a Master’s degree (2007), and a Doctoral degree (2010) at the Georgian Technical University, Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy.
As Teo Robakidze states, the cement industry is constantly in need of experienced specialists. “Honeywell Cement” actively collaborates with the Georgian Technical University and regularly offers internship programs to support the professional development of students, identify outstanding students, and attract them to the cement industry.
“I chose a technical direction as my specialty, specifically in chemical engineering. After gaining a thorough understanding of the field during my first year at university, I focused my studies on cement technology as my primary area of expertise. While pursuing my doctoral degree, I received an opportunity to connect my career with the university. Although the environment offered to me was very appealing, I decided to continue working in a practical field because I was deeply interested in the equipment and technological processes I had studied in detail. I was ready to face industrial challenges while maintaining my ties to the university. I knew that this choice would be a more difficult path, but it was even more interesting. After completing my doctoral thesis, I took the next step in my career and, in 2011, joined a successful company, which was previously known as “Heidelberg Cement Georgia” and is now “Honeywell Cement.” With the extensive experience I gained there, I was able to confidently work as an associate professor at my alma mater. Even after many years, my professors and teachers are still willing to discuss the details of any innovation or ongoing project with their graduates, share theoretical and practical experience, and offer guidance in choosing the right direction. I would also like to take this opportunity to address students and applicants, the constantly evolving technology of cement is a promising and stable engineering field, driven by the continuous demand for cement and its products in the market. The Georgian Technical University provides high-quality education in this area. I wish success to my university, students, professors, and teachers,” says Teo Robakidze.
