An information meeting was held at the Georgian Technical University on participation in one of the largest international events organized in the educational space – “NAFSA 2025 - Annual Conference & Expo” – led by the Head of the University’s International Relations Department, Tea Murvanidze.
Georgian Technical University, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, participated in the international educational exhibition held in San Diego (California), United States, as a member of the Georgian delegation. The Georgian delegation was led by Deputy Ministers of Education, Science and Youth, Baia Kvitsiani and Tamar Ghvamichava. Georgian Technical University was represented at NAFSA 2025 by the Head of the Department of International Relations Tea Murvanidze and the Deputy Dean of the International School of Design, Professor Nino Pitskhelauri.
The information-reporting meeting at the Georgian Technical University was attended by deans of faculties, professors and the university administration representatives.
As Tea Murvanidze noted at the meeting, at the international educational exhibition, which was attended by about 10,000 delegates from more than 100 countries around the world, Georgia was represented by a stand - the project of the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth - “Education in Georgia”, which unites state and private higher educational institutions operating in Georgia.
According to her, participation in NAFSA 2025 is a unique opportunity for Georgian universities, including the Georgian Technical University, to expand international cooperation, increase awareness and visibility, and, at the same time, find new international partners, which is so important in terms of internationalization and integration into the international educational space.
“Considering the fact that NAFSA is one of the largest educational forums in the world, bringing together leaders and specialists in the field of international education, participation in this event is highly significant for the Georgian Technical University. It plays a crucial role in the development of our international strategy and global relations. First, such exhibitions enhance the global visibility and partnerships of our university. By participating alongside hundreds of universities from over 100 countries, we position ourselves among the world’s leading educational institutions that actively seek opportunities for research, exchange, and collaborative efforts. NAFSA attracts professionals in international admissions, recruitment, and exchange programs, making it an ideal platform to establish direct connections with potential partners and recruiters. Many attendees visited the Georgian stand—under the theme “Education in Georgia”—where they learned about the capabilities of Georgian universities, including the Georgian Technical University. Visitors received comprehensive information about our educational programs and could explore both our university campuses and the landmarks of our country through virtual reality glasses. We participated in over 50 sessions and presentations, and we conducted meetings aimed at initiating agreements for new collaborations and discussing joint programs.
Most importantly, by participating in the exhibition, our university has established a flexible platform for attracting international students and implementing global mobility programs. Additionally, the NAFSA platform will significantly aid us in the internationalization of our curricula and research, as well as in improving educational standards. It is noteworthy that the engineering and technology programs at Georgian Technical University align perfectly with NAFSA’s concept of advancing the global development of STEM education and promoting sustainable, intercultural educational practices. We anticipate that the connections made at NAFSA will strengthen further and evolve into new memorandums of understanding, joint research projects, and exchange programs. In particular, we are already planning to develop new memorandums of understanding with American and European universities, initiate new exchange programs in engineering, technology, and architecture, and enhance our international activities through joint seminars, conferences, and student recruitment missions. Concurrently, Georgian Technical University will continue to participate in NAFSA regional events and seminars. Under the banner of “Education in Georgia” and as a member of the Georgian delegation, we view our participation in NAFSA 2025 as a crucial step toward enhancing the global reputation and academic influence of Georgian Technical University. We extend our gratitude to the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia for these valuable opportunities,” noted Tea Murvanidze.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Head of the Department of International Relations answered the deans and professors’ questions.
