As the rector noted, a hybrid didactic center – “Dante’s Office” - is successfully operating at the Georgian Technical University, and the university administration, with the support of the Dante Alighieri Society’s Rome headquarters and in partnership with the Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee, will offer Italian as a second foreign language to students of various faculties starting from the next academic year.

“It is gratifying to celebrate the International Day of Dante Alighieri in the homeland of the great Shota Rustaveli. The celebration of Dantedi has already become a tradition at the Georgian Technical University. This year’s theme -"Cultural and Educational Bridge between Italy and Georgia”-is significant for fostering closer educational and scientific ties between our countries. Initiated by the Georgian Technical University and supported by the Alighieri Society’s headquarters in Rome, the Dante Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee, and the Italian Embassy in Georgia, we have developed an international project that has led to the successful establishment of a hybrid didactic center, “Dante’s Office,” at our university. This center is integrated with the international cultural and educational digital platform, Dante Global. Together, we have created an international project aimed at providing an effective, high-quality, and free interdisciplinary Italian language course for students, academic staff, and young researchers. The course is fully aligned with European standards and modern teaching methodologies. I am pleased to report that the second phase of this project was successfully implemented during the current academic year. Moving forward, with the active support of the Alighieri Society’s Rome headquarters and the Italian Embassy in Georgia, as well as collaboration with the Alighieri Society-Tbilisi Committee, we aim to offer Italian as a second foreign language to students from various faculties starting next year. I am confident that students from the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, and the International School of Design will be particularly interested in learning Italian.

It is important to highlight the successful educational and scientific collaboration between the Georgian Technical University and leading universities in Italy.
Within the framework of the European Union’s Erasmus+ program, many of our students and young researchers have the opportunity to study and participate in research activities in Italy. We would like to express our gratitude to His Excellency Massimiliano D’Antuono, the Ambassador of Italy to Georgia, and Mr. Alessandro Salacone, a representative from the Rome headquarters of the Dante Alighieri Society, for their significant support. I kindly ask them to convey our best wishes to Professor Andrea Ricciardi, the President of the Alighieri Society, and Professor Alessandro Mazi, the Secretary General. We believe that the partnership and friendship between our university and the Dante Alighieri Society will continue to strengthen in the future. Finally, we are confident that all students and researchers who engage with the Italian language and culture through “Dante’s Office” at the Georgian Technical University that will serve as goodwill ambassadors in fostering relations between Georgia and Italy,” stated Rector David Gurgenidze.
