The meeting commenced with a warm welcome from Professor Zurab Gudavadze, the President of the Supervisory Board of Georgian Technical University, to the representatives of European universities. He extended his congratulations to the President and representatives of the Portuguese University on the Portugal’s National Day.

Professor Zurab Gudavadze shared insights with his European colleagues regarding the scientific and academic achievements of GTU in recent years, highlighting the university’s participation in international research projects and major global scientific endeavors. He emphasized that expanding collaboration with European universities would significantly enhance the internationalization of teaching and research at GTU.

Professor Tamar Lominadze, the Vice-Rector, noted that GTU has a long-standing and fruitful partnership with the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, Wroclaw University of Technology, and Turkish Gas University. She also announced that from June 12th, professors from the University of Palermo in Italy—Simona Sanseri, Simona Palmeri, and Costanza Conti—would participate in working meetings organized under the “ERASMUS+” framework at GTU.

“I would like to extend the best wishes of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, to our colleagues from European universities and wish them continued success on his behalf. I am pleased to highlight the presence of President Maria Fatima Carvalho of the Beige Polytechnic Institute, who is a recognized scientist. We primarily collaborate with this university in the fields of agriculture and business. The Wroclaw University of Technology is another active partner, especially in engineering. Our cooperation with the Turkish Gas University has been fruitful, as our Turkish colleagues frequently visit the Georgian Technical University to give lectures and participate in the international weeks we organize. Additionally, representatives from the University of Palermo will be joining us at the end of this week, contributing to a joint project that has been underway for three years and involves 60 participants. The working meetings that will take place at our university as part of the “ERASMUS+” program are crucial for enhancing academic collaboration and advancing the internationalization of teaching and research. By sharing experiences, engaging in discussions, and developing joint initiatives with our colleagues, we can establish long-term partnerships that will strengthen the educational and scientific activities of the Georgian Technical University. This collaboration opens up new opportunities for our students, professors, and researchers,” noted Tamar Lominadze.

Within the framework of the visit, representatives of European universities will hold working meetings with academic and scientific staff of various faculties of the Georgian Technical University, conduct public lectures for students, and also introduce them to their universities in the form of a presentation, to deepen educational and research collaboration, including June 18th of this year. In addition, they will get acquainted with the academic and research infrastructure, laboratory bases, and current educational and scientific activities and achievements of the Georgian Technical University.
