“It is encouraging to see the enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity that our youth demonstrate through their participation in the Open International Scientific Conference of Students. The student conference is not only a scientific and academic platform but also a kind of litmus test that reveals the trends in the development of future science, innovations, and technologies in our country. The diversity and depth of the presented student research once again convince us that the next generation of Georgian scientists will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the global scientific space. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to thank the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, and the university administration for the great support they constantly provide to young people in the process of achieving academic excellence and scientific research,” the Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Lominadze made a statement at the opening of the 89th Open International Scientific Conference of Students.
The 89th Open International Scientific Conference of Students is attended by 679 bachelor, master’s, and doctoral students from thirteen faculties of the university, along with international students from partner universities in Europe.
The conference opening at the Georgian Technical University welcomed both participating students and their scientific supervisors.
During the opening ceremony, the Vice-Rector remarked that the level of interest and participation from students wishing to engage in the conference was beyond expectations.
“We are pleased to see the high level of interest and involvement from students in participating in the Open International Scientific Conference. Their active engagement confirms that our students are eager to showcase their research, exchange ideas, and contribute to academic dialogue. This motivation and desire to access science are crucial components of the country's sustainable development. At the Georgian Technical University, the success and well-being of young people are the foundation of all our initiatives. The active participation of the university rector and administration in organizing these and other events demonstrates our unwavering support for this principle and is aimed at the comprehensive development of our youth. Our goal is for every student to receive a high-quality education, engage in research, and enjoy a vibrant student life, which will continuously aid their career development and help them achieve their goals,” noted Tamar Lominadze.
The young participants of the 89th Open International Scientific Conference of Students were welcomed and wished success by the President of the GTU Student Self-Government, Davit Leshkasheli, and the Head of the Student Services, Culture and Sports Department, Levan Pipia.
As Levan Pipia noted, the international student conference will be held in 57 sectoral sections, including 4 sections will work at the Faculty of Construction and 25 students will present their work; 5 sections at the Faculty of Power Engineering, 50 students; 6 sections at the Faculty of Mining Geology, 39 students; 5 sections at the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, 43 students; 2 sections at the Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism and Design, 45 students; 2 sections at the Faculty of Law and International Relations, 65 students; 9 sections at the Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems, 149 students; International Design School, 1 section, 26 students; 6 sections at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems Engineering, 62 students; Faculty of Business Technologies - 4 sections, 27 students; Faculty of Engineering Economics, Media Technologies, and Social Sciences - 6 sections, 56 students; Faculty of Sustainable Mountain Development - 1 section, 22 students.
The 89th Open International Scientific Conference of Students will take place from June 5th to June 21st. The closing ceremony, along with the awarding of the winners, will be held on July 8th of this year.
