Former federal prosecutor and current INL attorney Charles Schmitz delivered a public lecture to the students on the Fourth Amendment and Search and Seizure.

Vice-Rector Professor Tamar Lominadze led the university delegation to the Embassy of the United States of America in Georgia. Along with the students, the public lecture was attended by professors and teachers of the Faculty of Law and International Relations.

The speaker of the public lecture, Charles Schmitz, reviewed the nuances of the United States legal system, drew parallels with international norms, and shared his experience with young people in implementing the aforementioned legislation in practice based on real cases.

At the public lecture, which was held in an interactive format, Charles Schmitz answered students’ questions.

As the Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Lominadze notes, the visit to the US Embassy was fruitful in terms of sharing American programs in the educational and research process.

According to her, the embassy staff shared practical advice with students and professors to facilitate their active involvement in exchange programs.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the Embassy of the United States of America in Georgia for organizing and hosting an interesting public lecture for our students. Such events significantly enrich the educational process and play a major role in the formation of young professionals. Mr. Charles Schmitz’s public lecture on the Fourth Amendment and search and seizure was not only informative but also interactive. The practical knowledge he shared, enriched with real-life cases, will greatly help students to better understand the American legal system and its application in practice, as young people were allowed to actively engage in discussion, ask questions, and share their opinions. It is precisely through such relations that an encouraging environment is created to deepen interest in international law. Also, on behalf of the Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Academician David Gurgenidze, we would like to thank the embassy representatives for the practical information about American educational and research exchange programs that they shared with students and professors. Such initiatives are important for expanding international educational opportunities and collaboration. The support of the United States Embassy in Georgia demonstrates the close partnership between our countries - thank them for supporting the educational and scientific mission,” notes Tamar Lominadze.
