The Girls’ Vocal-Instrumental Group “Chaldea” Held a Final Concert
The new lineup of the girls’ vocal-instrumental group “Chaldea” of the Georgian Technical University held a final concert for the 2024-2025 academic year and presented a special program to the university’s scientific-academic circles and students.

The university ensemble concert, which was held in the Ivane Javakhishvili Hall, was attended by the rector of the Georgian Technical University, academician David Gurgenidze, vice-rectors - Tamar Tsereteli and Tamar Lominadze, university administration representatives, deans of faculties, professors, students, and guests.

As Tamaz Jamagidze, the musical director of “Chaldea” and the ensemble “Erisioni”, noted, the vocal-instrumental group of female students at the Georgian Technical University – “Chaldea” was formed in 2012. Tamaz Jamagidze thanked the rector and the university administration for the promotion and support of the group’s new generation.

“The Georgian Technical University has rich creative traditions. Several historical collectives and groups operate at the university, and we are pleased that “Chaldea” has been a member of the university’s large family since 2012. I would like to remember Zviad Beriashvili, a graduate of the Technical University, and pay tribute to his memory. 13 years ago, we founded “Chaldea” together. During this time, “Chaldea” has participated in numerous competitions, festivals, and television programs. In 2020, we had a tour in Poland and released a group CD. It is noteworthy that songs were created exclusively for “Chaldea” by composers: Marika Kvaliashvili, David Archvadze, and Sophi Rafaela. Today, “Chaldea” has a new lineup - talented and beautiful young people. I want to take this opportunity to thank the rector, academician David Gurgenidze, and the university administration for their encouragement and support - success is impossible without active support. We hope that the new lineup of “Chaldea” will be as popular as the older generation of the group,” said Tamaz Jamagidze.

According to the rector, academician David Gurgenidze, at the end of the academic year, holding final concerts or exhibitions by university art groups at the Georgian Technical University has become a kind of tradition. According to the rector, such events contribute to the development of student creativity in many ways.

“The Georgian Technical University administration is committed to providing students with the opportunity to develop in the artistic direction, to demonstrate their talents and skills, to have appropriate and well-equipped spaces for rehearsals, where, together with their supervisors, they will be able to regularly work on new concepts, compose and refine new programs, thereby performing not only before the university community, but also at youth festivals and concerts, participating in competitions and bringing new successes to their alma mater. It is gratifying that the repertoire and performance of the new generation of “Chaldea” at the graduation concert pleasantly surprised us. I wish the girls’ ensemble success,” said David Gurgenidze.

At the closing concert, the girls’ university vocal-instrumental group “Chaldea” with its new lineup - Magda and Keti Migriauli, Nanu Zaalishvili, Tiko Gelashvili, Diana Zurabishvili, Nini Tchigladze, Mari Ughrelidze, Nutsa Merabishvili, and Mariam Akhalmosulishvili - presented a diverse repertoire, including folklore, urban and pop works, and Georgian hymns.

The first generation of “Chaldea” singers - Teona Gnolidze, Tiko Gelenidze, Keti Bakashvili, Gvantsa Kiknadze, Sopho Amirejibi, and Ani Devdariani performed musical numbers with them and recalled episodes related to the group’s founding. The concert earned the audience’s approval and ovation.
