A professional retraining certificate program will be developed and implemented at the Faculty of Energy of the Georgian Technical University in partnership with the “Energy Efficiency Center of Georgia” to retrain persons conducting energy audits of buildings.
The Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University, Professor Tamar Tsereteli, and the Director of the Energy Efficiency Center of Georgia, Giorgi Abulashvili, signed the memorandum of cooperation.
The Vice-Rector of the Georgian Technical University opened the document signing ceremony, which was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Energy, Professor Ketevan Kutateladze, professors, students of the Energy and Electrical Engineering, as well as Electrical and Electronic Engineering educational programs, representatives of the university administration, and the Energy Efficiency Center.
According to Tamar Tsereteli, the parties decided to sign the Memorandum of Cooperation to jointly develop energy efficiency measures, as required by the country’s energy efficiency policy and the Law of Georgia on Energy Efficiency.
As the Vice-Rector noted, the certificate program for professional training of building energy auditors, which will be developed in cooperation with the Georgian Technical University, will be implemented within the framework of the EU-funded project “Inclusive Development through the Implementation of Sustainable and Green Business Practices in Georgia”. According to her, the project aims to create the prerequisites for promoting inclusive and sustainable development in Georgia and is implemented by the Energy Efficiency Center Georgia (EECG), World Vision Georgia, and the Georgian Farmers Association (GFA).
According to Tamar Tsereteli, the memorandum also envisages deepening partnership relations between the university and the Energy Efficiency Center for higher and vocational education development, which will allow the parties to jointly take care of the training of young, competitive professionals and their future employment.
“We are confident that the partnership between the Georgian Technical University and the “Energy Efficiency Center of Georgia” will become one of the best examples of how effective and mutually beneficial cooperation between a university and an organization operating in the energy sector should be established. The document, which was signed, envisages the university’s full involvement in training young staff in energy efficiency and energy auditing of buildings. Students, researchers, and professors of the Faculty of Energy of the Georgian Technical University will be involved in this process, and with joint efforts, we will acquire several experienced young specialists for the country, who will have guaranteed long-term employment prospects. I wish the parties success in implementing the set goals,” noted Vice-Rector Tamar Tsereteli.
