“With the high international reputation of the Georgian Technical University, close cooperation with European universities, and global recognition, I can confidently say that the university played a fundamental role in shaping my career. It gave me a solid academic foundation in viticulture and winemaking and paved the way for invaluable international experience,” says Nikoloz Kirvalidze, a graduate of the Georgian Technical University.
Nikoloz Kirvalidze graduated from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Biosystems Engineering, with an English Master’s degree in Viticulture and Enology in 2024.
As Nikoloz Kirvalidze states, the motivation for continuing his studies at the Georgian Technical University for a master’s degree, in addition to the uniqueness of the English-language program in viticulture and enology, was a great desire to gain international experience through the numerous opportunities and programs that the Georgian Technical University offers to students.
“With the support of the Georgian Technical University, within the framework of the ERASMUS+ program, I was in Italy, at the University of Milan, for a professional degree. After returning from Italy, I had the opportunity to participate in the Vinifera EuroMaster dual-degree program, within which I spent the first semester of the second year at the University of Geisenheim in Germany, where I further deepened my knowledge in my field and received a solid foundation for the second, final semester, which I spent in France, at the Bordeaux Vine and Wine Research Institute, working on my master’s thesis.
In addition, the program allowed me to participate in modern research and important projects that address global challenges, including climate change. I also had the opportunity to work with experts from leading wine-growing and winemaking regions, which was a great professional experience for me.
I deepened my knowledge of grapevine physiology, vineyard management, different winemaking techniques, sensory evaluation of wine, and modern technologies for vine care and cultivation. I also had the opportunity to get acquainted with innovative approaches and global practices in viticulture and winemaking from different countries.
I believe Georgian Technical University is the best choice for those who are looking for high-level education in viticulture and winemaking and want to gain international experience and create strong professional connections with world-renowned specialists.
Students at the university are provided with practical and research opportunities, which make them competitive specialists in the international arena,” says Nikoloz Kirvalidze.
